There are a few that have indicated their desire to attend the fried-fest just south of College Station (where the Fightin' Texas Aggies play) at Sodolak's on Sunday.  To get to the location by 11:00-11:15am, we need to depart the area somewhere around 7:00am so that we can actually see a few bluebonnets on the way down and then join with our southern cousins for chicken-fried anything and everything.

So, who wants to join for a group trip down?  I think Disco has a route but if not, I can come up with one.   No idea on the meeting place at this time, but after I get a quick headcount, we can work on the best place.

Might as well be coming from DFW, as I'm coming from the far west end of Galveston Island.  Smiley
It is right at 2 hours from the campsite to 290&1488, our meet up point.

See y'all cousins in Snook.

We are planning on riding down for some chicken fried bacon!    Figured it would be a pretty early departure.   Just let us know when/where.

So +2

No meandering route here...  The only time I went I took a straight shot down 45 to 14 to 6 to Hearn to 50 to 60.  Meandered back up a bit west of that, but I was in a food coma and don't remember the particulars other than the traffic through Waxahachie.  Did ride up 77 part of the way back.

Anyone else?  So far, Hollyday, Buzzkill and RainMaker.  I'll define the route and meetup point this evening but need to see if any others will be on the trip.

Multiple ways to get there but this is my pick:

Fairly scenic but pretty direct  http://goo.gl/maps/UTHhv

This has a meetup/KSU at 8:00am in Hutchins at the Jack in the Box near Dowdy Ferry Road exit off of I-45.  3 hours with 10 minutes to stop for gas along the way.  I've ridden this route to College Station before and it's pretty good except for the stretch on 45 to Richmond.

Return trip: http://goo.gl/maps/XJIiW

I thought we could ride along with the Houston group to Hempstead, then turn north on 6 as these are both roads that are normally full of bluebonnets.  After that, we can go to I-45 and hottail it back home or continue east and ride for 5-6 hours on nicer roads and probably more in Big John's neck of the woods.

Liz and Randy, let me know your thoughts.

Sounds like a plan, but we will probably take a more direct route back.  Probably either 36 or 79 back to one of the highways and head for home.  Unfortunately we will have to be downgraded from a Definite to a Likely.  If we do back out, I'll call or message you.

Hope "not" to hear from you.

It will be cold tomorrow.  Just let me know as I will plan a different route to meetup with John if you aren't coming.

John, let me know if you are not coming because I'll plan a different route again.

And if anyone else was thinking of coming along, speak now.

RainMaker in the house at 7:29PM, 12 hours 11 minutes after launch this morning.  581 miles and too many smiles to count.  Still full from lunch.
