hi, recently I have been seeing some dark fluid seeping out at the base of the manifold intakes. I have one on each side showing this. has anyone had this happen? if so how much does it cost to have it all six O-rings replaced. I just recently called several dealers in the Albany n.y. area which I m getting a big difference in pricing.. I been in Colorado for the past 20 years and my mechanic at Aurora Honda who has worked on my bike for the past 12 years ,the only guy I trust told me it is not a big job and labor is around $100.00 and $40.00 for the 6 O-rings.. I am also looking for any fellow Valkyrie riders in the Albany n.y capital district as well to ride with as well with questions regarding Valkyries... my email is emrikhoenig@aol.com if you like to answer there. thanks, emrik

It's not hard, just unbolt and slide it out, put in new o ring and slide it back in, do not have to disturb the carberators at all. Just loosen the clamps and pop the riser out of the rubber. Hoser

I just replaced my intake O-rings, picked them up at Honda dealer, $31 and change. Might have gotten them cheaper elsewhere but didn't want to wait on shipping. Not hard to change. Just use a light coating of dielectric grease on them which aids in getting them to slide back into place and also helps them seal. Just snug the bolts up, not too tight.

+1 A very easy job. Less than $13 for the O-rings from redeye. Retighten the bolts not to exceed 7ft-lbs or 84 inch-lbs. Go for it!

Red eye is our sponsor but if time is important, find a local hydraulic supply house near you. Get a #123 O ring in Viton or Silicone. Here in AZ they're about .60 each. Loosen the upper hose clamp and remove the 8 mm bolts at the base. GENTLY pull out the base of the tube. Don't YANK as 3 of the tubes have a vacuum tube attached to them. From there, the replace is simple.

I used a piece of transparency film between the intake and the head after removing the bolts when sliding them in/out to protect both surfaces. Made me feel better anyway. Can be alittle tight getting them out.

If you take all of the manifolds bolts out the carb rack can be pushed up easy enough to allow the manifolds to come out without any threat of scraping.

Thats hilarious (oooops) I mean that just gives me a pain I cannot locate. I bought 50 of them viton 0-rings for $10. after I used 6, I packaged the rest in 6 packs and sent them out to VRCC members that needed them. $40 you have got to be kidding me. And $100 to replace them, ya thats a deal...a deal for someone that has more dollars than sense. Wow, just think how much money we would all spend if we had 0-rings, spark plugs, oil, coolant, cables, valve adjustments, final drive grease, battery changes and timing belts all done by a dealer that would charge $140 to switch out 6 little 0-rings

I stopped in the local hyrdaulic hose supply store after work tonight for some O-rings. Is the #123 O-ring correct? Clerk/owner thought maybe an 8123 was correct? TIA.

The wrench to fit these intake bolts should be in the tool kit on the bike. They sure don't need to be super tight. If you remove all the intake bolts at the same time the carbs should be able to be lifted high enough to replace the O-rings without removing the intake tube itself. If you do remove them I found that a light coating of silicone die-electric grease at the lip of the boot really helps to make them slide in place easier. A few small spots of black Permatex will help hold the o-ring in its channel. They do fall out if you are not careful. This task is very easy and does not need to been done by the dealer.

The #8123 might be a brand equivalent number. Did you take the old O ring with you? Also get the viton material.

Doh! I wish I'd thought of that. Feel pretty stupid doing them one at a time.
