Where do the pinion joint holder tools come from guys??? I was going to get an eBay driveshaft cut off the end, mill out the center and weld it to a plate,,, but there has got to be a simpler way!!! Googeling the part number 07924-me40002  does not turn up any suppliers.

there better be a simpler way ! one suppler in Germany has it and it's well over $400 USd ! i cannot find it anywhere else.

Save your money.  Use an impact wrench.  Works like a charm.  Have never heard of one loosening.

Impact wrench worked for me.

I also left the ring gear installed, and installed the wheel flange. I drilled hole through a 2x4 and placed the board on the studs of the wheel flange. This gave me something to keep it from moving. impact is what you need though. You could probably forget the board idea if you have an impact.

I ordered the pinion cup holder and it was on back order for several months...
the vendor recommended that I just get my money back and give up. The dang
thing was almost $200...

I made this thing out of a few boards...





The one board holds the flange, and the other board keeps the case from spinning...
there's nothing else left to turn but the nut in the pinion cup...

I have one final drive I can't the the nut off with my board-tool, or with an
impact...

I really like using the board-tool to put the nut back on, because I can use
a torque wrench and tighten the nut to the specified amount. The final drive
that I can't remove the nut from had the nut tightened with my buddy Dan's
impact wrench... "how tight does it need to be?" "Ida know - tight"...  coolsmiley

Mike, I cant tell if the axle goes through the board on the case side.  If not, that would help steady the case.  I like the rig though!  cooldude

Thanks   Okie.. Mike...  I knew there had to be an easier way......  I may still make one from a driveline someday,,,   but not any day soon.   I will be making a jig along the lines of what you guys did.

I have to reverse the two boards the axle goes through depending on
whether I'm loosening or tightening - the case wants to spin a different
direction depending...

I have an old wooden dining room table in my garage. Makes it nice to be able to drill holes in for holding things. Just bolted the case to the table. A chain-type strap wrench from autozone held on to the pinion cup so I could torque it.

I found it very easy to just place the pumpkin temporarily back on the wheel flange and strap it down so that it won't spin on the wheel.  By doing this I was able to correctly torque the nut.

This is why I still order dumb stuff and accessories from the local stealership, and sell them parts out of my stash when they are in a bind / need to help a customer in a hurry. When I need  a specialty tool for the Fat lady , I've got a nice setup where I leave them $100 they loan me the tool and I get my $100 back when I take the tool back. They've also gotten to the point where they call me with Valk parts that come in as take-offs, and find during cleaning sessions, or they get when buying parts from other dealer clean outs.

I have almost the same relationship with my local Honda dealer, except there are quite a few of us Valkyrie owners here not too mention my dealer has also sold items on e-bay for all bikes. I missed out on a complete drive ass'y and hard bags off one they installed a trike kit on. I believe that it just so happened that the PO sold all the parts himself. I spoke with the owner of the trike after he came back to have triple trees replaced with new ones from F6 here. He said the new rake made a remarkable difference in the handling.
