 Hey all...

   I'm needing some advise/information.
I'm going to be installing a Light Bar soon (a big Thank You to Brad!) and in researching/looking for a "Switch" to control these lights, I'm having trouble finding what I think I want.  Undecided  Hopefully, I want to find a Chrome switch that mounts to the handlebar, clutch side, w/LED indicators. I know, shootin` for the moon!  2funny
I have looked at the "Show Chrome Accessories (Big Bike Parts) LED Master Cylinder Switch Block Assembly - Chrome (left/clutch)"   http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/led-master-cylinder-switch-block-assembly-chrome-leftclutch/part/BBP-52-605LA
but I'm really not wanting one that sits/mounts on top of the Master Cylinder. IMHO, adding this on top of the Valk Master Cylinder would make it really stick up to tall, coolsmiley I would think.
I've also looked at the "Show Chrome Accessories (Big Bike Parts) Dual Accessory Switch Block"   http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/show-chrome-accessories-big-bike-parts-dual-accessory-switch-block-1-inch-cruiser-bars/part/BBP-13-207
that mounts to the handlebar, but in looking at my bike, it doesn't look like it would fit as the back part of the handlebar clamp would have to fit between the handlebar and the master cylinder, tickedoff although both these switches are listed as fitting the Valkyrie.
And, from reading the reviews on these two switches, both would have to be 'filled' with the electrical dialectic grease to "waterproof" them. Does that grease harden over time? tickedoff   Would sitting in the sun cause it to "melt" and leak out of the switches? Evil

My main question is for those of you running Light Bars.

What kind of Accessory Switch are you using for your light bar, and where did you mount it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Cobra light bar on my 2001 Standard and the rocker switch is on the right-hand-side light bar mount. I also have the triple LED Master Cylinder Switch Block Assembly riding on top of the clutch cylinder and it works just fine: one switch for those purple lights buried in the chrome, one for the electric vest, and one is spare. By the way, what do you call those purple lights?

I have both of the switches you have listed. I have the two switch on the left handle bar. It is close but there is some clearance between the back and the clutch reserve. Looks very nice (as if it was standard equipment). I have the three switches on the right side brake reserve for other accessories such as gps, phone, etc...  I like both switch housings but if you only need one, go with the one with two switches that mounts on the handlebar (part #BBP-13-207). It has a very clean look.  Here is a picture with both of them on a Interstate. Sorry about the quality but I could not use a flash because of the reflection off the chrome.

The bank of three switches are rated at 10 amps each where as the group of two are only 2 amps.
The 10 amp one means less relays if you install a fuse panel with a relay on it.

This won't be for everybody... I have a Cobra lightbar...

I used a blade-style connection on my relay's trigger
wire and, without modifying the OEM wiring at all,
jambed the blade connector into the same slot where the (blue?)
wire goes into the headlight. My Cobras come
on with high beam.

I have moto-lights too... they're on all the time, to help
people see me.

During the day, when there's someone in a position where
they could pull out in front of me, I flick on the high beams.
I've seen numerous people almost pull out and then hit
the brakes when I hit the high beam button.

At night, the Cobras help ME see... they're pointed real
obnoxiously, but since I can control them with the high
beam button, I don't blind on-comers...

I am using the switch block mounted on the clutch master. I have my light bar on one of these switches and use a relay for the light bar power. I have the lights adjusted where I do get blinked by on coming traffic. If I had to do it again I would have bought the two switch housing that keeps the buttons close to your thumb. I used to have just a switch mounted under the tank on the left side engine support. The switch is there. If interested I can take a picture of it for you. I have seen a switch installed in the head light bucket just above the signal indicator bulb an in the plastic filler on the frame right in front of the tank.

My light bar switch is on the centre panel under the back end of the gas tank. I rarely need to switch it off.

I have a Cobra Light Bar.   Toggle Switch on the right bracket, stock.

I wired these lights into the headlight wiring,  with a relay, and they are never off unless I'm starting the engine or I have it in storage.     Don't ask why off in storage, I can't answer that except for many years on the CHP motors we had to switch off our red/blues when coming in to the Area office and parking the bike.

It hass been on the bike since 1988.   I did go to 500W bulbs, but if I had it to do over I'd order these replacement bulbs.     Thanks to Warlock for pointing me at these.

The spotlights are GE H7616 they only use 36.5 watts and put out 70,000 CP. Lights up the road very well.

If you are going to add a switch.  This was easy and cheap (from Radio shack) and its almost invisible.  I use it to turn my volt meter on or off so I can check the battery while the engine is not running

I have the switch block from Kuryakyn.  This one.....

http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/kuryakyn-accessory-switches-for-master-cylinder-reservoir-covers/part/KY-7803

When I needed a switch for my light bar (and a couple other accessories), I looked at the Show Chrome one first.

The problem with the Show Chrome switch block is that they come in either a right side or a left side switch block.  Two different part numbers.  AND, it has a top cap that goes on with two screws.  Water can get in that way.

The Kury block will mount either side (one part number) and does not have a top cap......it's water tight.  I've not had any problems with mine.

The button that comes with motolights is more clunky than Jeff's button, but
I pretty much put it in the same place (other side...)

A big heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone for all the information! You guys are great!
The one I finally decided on is the 2 switch from show chrome. Really like the idea of having it within thumb distance, right next to the headlight switch. That, and it looks like it came mounted there from the factory! Now that I know it will actually fit where I was wantin` to put it(BB1 cooldude), it's just a matter of enrolling at the local community college and getting a degree in electrical engineering so I can finally get it all wired up without startin` any fires on the ole gurl! Oughta be done in a couple years flat!
I have been checking out the tech board threads and there's a wealth of information back there, as well as some other places I've found.
Shouldn't be as hard to do as my naturally pessimistic left brain is telling my overly optimistic right brain it will be, so I'm absolutely certain that both halves of my brain will be back with a few questions and clarifications before this all gets done!
  Thanks Again!!
