1998 standard  84k

When i turn the left blinker on the right rear blinker flashes.
When i turn the right blinker on the left rear blinker flashes.

The front blinkers work correctly.
Applying the rear brake the break light dims.

Anyone ever experience this kind of problem?

Check the connector under the rear fender.    Where you can take the lower 1/2 of the rear fender off.     Sounds like it has jarred loose, like maybe when ya bottomed out some time or another.

Sounds like the connections are reversed for the turn signals. I'd look under the right side cover first and make sure blue goes to blue and orange to orange.

No  work has been done on or near the wiring under the side cover.  The connections under the rear fender is my first guess.  Have not had the chance to check it yet but will be checking within the next couple of hours.
Will post any results, positive or not.

Have you had the tail/brake lite assembly off and disconnected? Sounds like the wires have been plugged in reversed under the tail lite housing.

This will be your exact symptom if your ground wire in your fender plug  goes bad. Check and make sure all your pins are pushed in all the way.  It sounds like your ground pin has backed out.

Sounds like bad ground to me. A bad ground will give you all kinds of problems.

I have not had a chance to get under the fender to look at the wiring just yet.  Earliest should be tuesday.
I have not messed with any wireing at all anywhere this spring.
I hope that it is just a ground.
Will post more after I get a chance to look at things..

Thanks to all.

Is this ground wire located under the rear fender?

Yes, the ground wire (green wire) is in the bundle that runs under the fender.

I would try finding a wire several foot long and attaching one end to a good frame ground or the negative battery terminal, and the other end to the ground on one of the rear lights (e.g., remove a turn signal lens and hook hook the wire to grounded part of the bulb holder).  If that solves the problem, you can try to figure out why you lost the ground.  If it does not solve the problem, you can start checking voltages with a voltmeter.

Good luck.

I sure am challenged when it comes to electrical.
Droped the rear fender and could not see anything that looked out of sorts.
So I unplugged all connections and made sure they were clean.
Put it all back together and all is well.
Damn Gremlins!!

Thank you all for your help and advise.
