Best way I know to avoid my fellow man: 4am departure, solo ride, central Oregon.

By 5:30 things are starting to get lit, by 7:00 the wind is already getting brisk.

Dodge out of the gorge and head into farm country, happened upon a nice spot on a ridge with nice views of the Columbia and the Cascades.

Looking north to Mt Adams

west at the bridge at Hood River

east into the river

south at Mt. Hood

Ground looks a little rocky but the view is fair to middlin'

Into the high desert, approaching the fossil beds near Clarno

pretty rough country, not many straight stretches through here

Find some shade outside Fossil, have a little picnic, and head back the same route
