Leaving Thunder Bay, ON yesterday, speakers start cutting in and out. Looking down, speedo and tach at zero and the LCD dashboard (Interstate) is rebooting every 3 seconds or so. I pull over and she dies. Key on I have lights and my GPS has power, but no starter. Bump start and it's fine except for the flashing dash. I got to a turn around spot and she just dies. Battery is dead, won't fire.

She's in the shop (long weekend) and I was hoping to find something that may help the mech when he gets in Tuesday morning.  I searched for an hour but didn't come up with any hits. I understand it's probably battery or alternator, but the flashing thing I haven't heard of before.
TIA, Fred.

Just a stab in the dark here based on your symptom description....don't overlook the ground connections, including the one from the battery to the chassis. If a ground wire pulls out of the rear wheel connector the bike will display lights similar to emergency flashers when either turn signal direction is selected.

When my alt crapped out on my I/S everything just died. The L C D died and got a couple of good backfires before it died completely. I replaced a battery of unknown age with a new one and a rebuilt alt from M A R S. And insult to injury-the battery checked out good just before it all took a dump on me.  crazy2 RIDE SAFE.

Dash going out is a typical low voltage symptom. I would guess from your description that the alternator gave up the ghost, but, could be a number of things. Hard to tell without throwing the voltmeter on. Did you check the main fuse? Could be something as simple as that cooldude

My interstate did the same thing. Alt. has died and gone to alt heaven. The goldwing alt. is what I replaced mine with and that was 70,000 miles ago.

That's what mine did when the alt went kaput...  I think you got good advise.
