I have the after market starter relay (ebay) and I seem to remember that when you install this relay you need to reverse the wires. I did a search, no luck, probably my fault.
True?? should I reverse the two wires from the side of the relay when I install the new (after market) relay.
I am having intermittent starting problems, I just did the starter switch maintenance. I can hear the relay clicking but not starting and other time it will work just fine.
TIA
Jerry

I just pulled the "old" relay and it looks identical to the after market relay. the "brass" post is on the left and the "silver" post is on the right. that is idential to the original. I don't see a need to reverse the wires before I hook them back up.
any thought?

Nothing like the sound of "varoom, varoom". tested it a few more times and look like problem solved.

May I ask which relay did you buy on ebay, there are some for 10.50 and 19.00, The 10 dollar one seems to have a blue fuse in it (15A) and we need a 30 A for the i/s. The 19 dollar one, I cant determine the color.....kinda looks blue....again undersize fuse. A 30 A fuse is green....

The one I got off of Ebay connected up just like the original. I think Thunderbolt said he had to reverse the wires on the one he got off of Ebay. -RP

I bought the $10.50 relay from Ebay. I just checked the fuse to make sure it was 30 amp---and it is. The color of the fuse is a blue/green blend.

Hey thanks.....and I just got verification from the seller in CA that it has a 30A'er...Got one on order
Wil
PS.....I think the need to relocate the red wire occurrs when ordering a GW plug pigtail cause yours has fried the plug in the wire harness in the Valkyrie. It is the same plug size and shape, just the red wire is in the wrong slot...seems like I saw this in a previous post from someone.

+1 Rio Wil, it was the GW part, not the replacement relay.
