Need to get a lift adapter, and looking at eBay I am seeing the Rivco adapter

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOOK-VALKYRIE-HONDA-ORIG-RIVCO-JACK-ADAPTER-Save-money-with-ea-use-/170854771001?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27c7bce939&vxp=mtr

and the Pro-Lift, which stays mounted on the bike.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VALKYRIE-HONDA-LIFT-JACK-ADAPTER-NEW-1-MUST-HAVE-MOTORCYCLE-ITEM-Save-/170895926144?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27ca30e380&vxp=mtr

Seems the Pro-Lift is a good ideer if it doesn't scrape the highway or prevent a future upgrade to truck stacks.  It says it will work with all exhausts.  I am guessing it wouldn't work with a belly tank, but I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one anyway.  Anyone have experience with the Pro-Lift adapter?

You're on the right track, but it really depends on personal preference.

There are + and - to each.

I have the rivco type and use it alot, but some seem to have problems mounting it to the bike complaining that they don't have enough arms and hands to get it mounted.  I don't have a problem putting it on the bike and find it goes on pretty easy myself.

I have the permanent one for 3 years and no problems.  it does not scrape at all, foot pegs always hit first and make me back off.

have used it with both OEM exhaust and Cobra 6into6 without problem.  seems easier to not have to fool with it.  can't use it with belly tank.

I have the lift jack adapter and it works fine with no scraping.  No interference with with either stock exhaust or 6x6. The only time I knew it was there was when I went to jack it up to change tires.

I got both but have not used the one that takes 27 people to install  and remove it every time!  tickedoff 2funny

Just kiddin.' It only takes 19!  2funny

The fact is that I can't use it on the standard because the aftermarket horns are on the way and the stationary adapter is already there...
No Belly Tank space is available w/the permanent one. Sad

I suppose I'll use the removable adapter on the I/S.
For now she waits for me in Connecticut to ride her back to Los Angeles likely in September.  coolsmiley cooldude

question i have in looking at this is, what is the front of the lift lifting on if the back is on the adaptor.  also it looks awfully front loaded, ESPECIALLY if you take of the back tire!  comments

The front arm comes up under the engine.   Some folks use a 1" inch (actually 3/4") piece of wood under the front arm to help keep your bike more level.

I do have the permanent type of lift adapter for over 5 years.

Well, if the permanent adapter attaches similarly like the temporary adapter I would be cautious for this reason:

A bad scrape, or hitting on the bottom of the bike could possibly break the motor cases at the point where the adapter attaches.

Something to consider.

I've got the one you attach to the bike,it attaches to the frame not the engine. I like it because if I'm on the road and break down the local bike shop should have a motorcycle jack but I bet they won't have an adapter for a Valktrie!

The red one Rivco attaches to the motor case as said but you remove it as needed so wouldnt be on the bike riding or not suppose to be.. The mounted one stays on the bike for when you want or may need it. I was out of town last summer and man was I glad I had that on there. Mechanic even said it was worth whatever I paid because he didnt have anything that would have worked and could have been SOL. Should have been added on by Honda OEM.  cooldude

as posted, front lifts engine.  if taking off heavy parts from rear, never hurts to put a couple jack stands under front engine guards.  very stable then.

Rick:  As a mentioned above, I have had the permanent one mounted for over 5 years..  I have ridden over speed bumps without hitting it.   If one had shorter shocks, it might be possible to hit it on speed bumps it one hit the bump as speed.

+1 on the jack stand.  As I tend to work on my bike by myself, I try to think safety first all the time.

As mentioned. The  mounted adapter doesnt mount to the engine. (Only the red one which is taken off and on as used. Which wouldnt be on while riding. ) The mounted one  Is to crossmember. And my pipes would drag before any of that wold be possible.

Nope, dont remove kickstand, Just loosen the two kickstand bolts, Slide adapter in place retighten bolts and your in business. I have mounted my aux. horns on the adapter flat. Good idea, Which I saw that trick here on the forum.

The adapter could hit a speed bump if you have 11 inch shocks.  I would really slow down when going over them.   I have OEM shocks and 65 series tires, but slow down for speed bumps.

One would be smart to have bike on jack stands or at least a second party to hold bike upright while installing the adapter.  Grin Grin

Hello fellow Valkers.

I just completed installing the perm' jack adapter.  I did notice the kickstand no longer fully seats in its original position because installing the adapter in between the frame and kickstand has increased how far the kickstand comes up (there is a steel stop on the kickstand).

Anyone have issues with the kickstand not going all the way up, or a fix?

Looking forward to your feedback

I don't have an answer for you....but when I saw Donald's posts, I had a severe senior moment for a second or two there.

I've had the perm adapter for about 3yrs now no problems at all. I had the wooden adapter and used bungy cords to hold it to engine until getting jack under it and after forgetting to remove it and running over it I'll never use one again. If you have the skills they are easy to fab yourself

I have one of those permanently mounted ones.  Its not mounted on my bike, I keep delaying, in the mean time the wooden one works just fine, I don't think I will mount that metal one anytime soon.  The other reason I delay is that I think I would still use a piece of thin plywood under the engine to spread the weight...so why not just use my wooden adapter.

I never had to use anything but a hand to hold it up to the engine.  I would not recommend the bungee thing for the exact reason reported, you could forget to remove it.  Mine just lowers itself with the jack as you lower the jack, cant forget it

Glad I have the mounted adapter. I had a u-joint go out while out of state. The shop said that was a live saver. Saved rigging up some contraption with blocks etc. Who knows  how that would have ended up. Sure it saved me on hr. labor costs too. I have to much in my Valk to cut corners and jury rig. I have used mine often.   cooldude

When I put my adapter on I had the problem of side stand not returning all the way up. I found that the return spring had moved and kept the side stand from returning all the way. I moved the spring back to it's original place and everything is fine now. Check the spring. cooldude
