INZANE 2014 City Suggestions ( update...... Asheville NC will host 14 )

I submit for consideration, the Asheville, NC area(Maggie Valley), for a future Inzane location.

Majestic riding and cooler weather are the norm. The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the BEST roads ever made for a cruiser bike. The BRP speed limit for the most part is 45MPH. There are 25 tunnels and no commercial trucks allowed... Utopia!

The Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum, the Biltmore Estate, and a Harrah's casino can all be a daily ride excursion from this location. The infamous "Tail of the Dragon" ride is nearby too. You could plan a TAIL ride rolling in or out of town. Try 318 hilly turns in 11 miles.

Wherever the next VRCC ground zero will be, it will be magnificent, as was my attendance to InZane13 in La Crosse. Give the Asheville (Maggie Valley) area a consideration for a future event! The folks on VOAI have already experienced Maggie, and gave it great reviews.

+1 for Asheville!!!

I have some very fond memories of that town when the Honda Hoot was held there... I was there every June from '94 thru 2000. Gave it a try when the rally was moved to Knoxville in '01 but never went back again.

FWIW there's a really nice KOA east of Asheville in Swannanoa where I stayed each of those years... Owners are very biker friendly & the BRP is only a 10-minute ride away!

A couple of years ago the VOAI ride was held in Maggie Valley, which is very close to Asheville. We got rained on every day, but the roads were second to none and, while it was 90+ degrees elsewhere, it stayed relatedively cool there.

I'd like to see the Grand Canyon before I die, so anywhere close to a good view would be nice. But, in early June instead of late July. I would rather ride in rain than heat/humidity.

Lake Placid is nice in summer. Great roads, Whiteface Mnt., Saranac brewery within a couple hour ride.

Admittedly, some of these may be too spendy, but any nice rural locale at elevation may have a decent big motel for reasonable and dining room, and riding is wonderful virtually everywhere. At elevation, almost guaranteed to be cooler in summer than most places. And no traffic to speak of anywhere.

Temps are great, 70's to mid 80's because this is high plains desert 4300 ft above sea level.
Roads aren't full of curves but the sights and possible day trips are fantastic.

And they need attendance to cover expenses.

I'm feeling a bit of sympathy for the VRCC officers. Heck, some of them probably aren't even home from this year's event, and we're already pushing for the location of next year's.

Guess it doesn't hurt anything to spitball some ideas on a message board, though.

New Orleans great food, great riding in the plantation country 45 minutes away, tons of entertainment. ground zero at LeRichelieu hotel they have their own parking lot for the Valkyrie rodeo. overflow hotel the chateau also in the French quarter with free parking with a AAA membership. I know it sounds pretty crazy but you would have more fun there in july than anyplace you have ever been for an inzane.

How about the parade of lights through the French quarter, pay a little more and have the banquet at commanders palace! They would roll out the red carpet for us Valkyrie riders, this is there slow time of year. Half price specials are all over town right now. I know you would get the best attendance that you have had in years. You can count on that.

New Orleans might not be a bad choice in October, riders from the north could converge on Nashville and ride the 444 mile Natchez Trace Parkway National Park to Natchez MS, then on down to the
Crescent City.

Fall ride on the Natchez Trace Parkway is just beautiful.

Asheville is a great riding area. I spent 2 weeks riding up there 3 summers ago. All good roads.

I really hope the powers that be will consider moving the event to the beginning or middle of June. I really want to make it to an Inzane ride but I just can't attend past the first week of July.

VOAI has been holding their Reunion starting Fathers Day weekend for the last several years. We plan on it next year too. Fathers Day 2014 is June 15.

Back to the Asheville NC (Maggie Valley) area....

Here is a day trip. Just 5 miles off the majestic Blue Ridge Parkway is the WHEELS THROUGH TIME museum. The "Smithsonian of Motorcycles". 320 of the rarest motorcycles in American history are in running condition, under 38,000 sq ft. The owner, Dale Walkler, hosts the TV series... "What's In The Barn". He will gladly start any one in his collection for a few who gather around.

If you have any interest at all in vintage bikes you will love Wheels Through Time. I was able to spend 4 hours there a few years back. Went to leave and ride back to the Asheville area but it was pouring rain by then. I went right back inside and spent another hour checking out the bikes.
The owner (I forget his name) will tell you anything you want to know about the bikes.
I recommend it as a day trip to anyone who happens to be lucky enough to be in the area.

Asheville sound like a nice location. I could win a second consecutive distance award driving from Palm Springs, CA. I do believe distance may hinder to some degree attendance. The midwest will make it more attractive for riders out west to take the challenge. Eureka Springs was done a couple years ago, and that may rule out my suggestion of Branson, MO. Am in the tour business and traveled there many times with larger groups. Very accommodating, lots of great roads to travel, and great destinations for day trips. A change of pace may be a dinner and evening show while there also.

Another suggestion may be western portions of West Virginia. River roads, mountain roads.

One I think would be popular is Rapid City SD covering the first weekend in June. This is the only time of the year that the Crazy Horse Monument is open to the public for the annual Volks March out to and up the monument. Lots of things to do in the area, great rides in the Black Hill country, Custer NP, Wall Drug, Devils Tower Wyoming. Were not in competition with Sturgis if we go in early June. You would capture a lot of riders from the NM area of the states also.

You're probably correct as to the "Geographic Center", but you have to consider the center of the population which is another animal altogether.
