I believe any year 1500 GW alternator will fit.

This is the one I keep in my garage as a spare.

Only $158 including shipping.

Hmmmm... they have an 80 amp vs the 40 amp, for just 20bucks more.....  seems like that may be a good idea.????  anyone have experience with the higher output?

got the service guy at wall honda in indianola to go with the 97  gl1500 gold wing alternator for $334.00
the difference will pay the air fare to retrieve the bike.plus some gas cooldude
i feel guilty for not having taken care of the new plugs onto the starter relay.i also wonder if the shark radio amp is the cause of all this .is the 97 valk alternator a 40 amp ?
and is the gw 1500 alternator more powerful?
thanks

AH HA, you is da one who called me and then didn't return my messages.

When Van Wall told me you couldn't get in till late afternoon I called the Honda dealer here in DSM, and since you were on the road you would have been the next machine on a hoist.    I was all hooked up to my trailer to come get ya from Van-Wall and bring ya'll up here.

Anyway, glad ya got it fixed.  I don't particularly like Van-Wall, I got into it with them a few years ago in another town.    Right now you could call them a major corporation, and they run things their way.     They own 4 John Deere Dealers, 3 motorcycle shops, 6 Lawn Mower (John Deere) and God only know how many more things they got their fingers in.

Real glad ya got fixed up.   Sorry we couldn't of hooked up and saved ya some $$$$$.

Yeah, I know who you are talking about.   He also tried to get ahold of you to offer his alternator.

I'm kind of glad it didn't work out for your benefit.    That was a motor from Pinwall that he had jusr installed and it no fire up.   Sounded to me like it had some major problems in there somewhere.

This way I think you got the better deal, even thought it was expensive.

Fred, glad to hear you are home safe and sound.

I was going to send out a search party for you if nothing was posted by 6:00 PM tonight.

By the way, it would have been about $300 more if you'd of waited for a Valkyrie alternator.

Glad you finally made it, Fred.  Not been on the board in awhile, but I have been concerned about the final results of your being stranded on the road home.

Glad all worked out even though it was a little more expensive a trip than planned.
