I'm having a hard time tracking down some 14mm freeze plugs at my local parts stores... (Autozone, O'Reillys).
Any idea who has em? Or anyone have some extra (4) you'd like to sell? Thanks.

If I can't find something, I head for Napa, if they no got it, I then head for Ace Hdwe.

Or use a 9/16" freeze plug. The difference is .011 in diameter(about 1/4 of a millimeter) and I've used them a number of times. Often easier to find than the metric plugs.

I went to NAPA looking for the 14mm freeze plugs.... Didn't have it. He checked other NAPA stores on his computer, and he said the closest one was in Kentucky. They did have some 9/16" freeze plugs at their other local loaction. I'll give em a shot.

In all the conversation, the thing that's being missed, is that care is needed when installing the plugs.
Too much force and the boss on the motor case can break causing an unsightly scar.
Since the plugging is against a very low exhaust pressure there is no need to think any kind of extreme blocking is necessary.

I checked my local NAPA. They didn't have any. According to his computer, the closest NAPA with 14.4mm freeze plugs were in Kentucky. That's a pretty good stretch from West Texas.

Another successful "de-smog". Everything went as planned..... Actually, better than planned. I was expecting to have to remove the exhaust to gain access to the lower air feed pipe. Actually, I was able to remove it and install my (home made) block-off plate and gasket with a simple allen wrench. Never had to touch the exhaust. It's amazing that much stuff can be remove and the thing still runs. Sure looks a lot better, too.
