Has anyone found a short interstate windshield with a recurve on the top. I am looking for a light smoked short 10 - 12 in. with a recurve (spoiler, lip) on the top.

Thanks

Do a search on here for a thread by Grumpy (Bill in FL), who got a Clearview Medium GT, AND had them cut it down at Clearview before shipping.  Cutting down the Medium GT still left  recurve in the shield top, and well below line of sight, it still gives good air management.

Std shield for IS is 15.5" with only a half inch to mount.  I think he went down to 14 or so, not 10 or 12.

Bill had some pretty good pictures of it... you want the side view to show the recurve.

This is not a laminar lip shield (2 piece), just one piece.

Having trouble finding good webshots.

You might contact the folks at Fast Aire.  They make shilds with a recurve.  I've got several in different sizes that I use on my Woodys fairing.

Maybe they'd be interested in producing some for the Interstate.

I ordered the medium GT and it doesn't have any recurve at all. Maybe the older ones are different. I also sent an email to Fastaire.

I was passing on what I've read and seen on line.  No personal experience.

But I was planning on trying this myself when my OEs bite the dust.

I thought I remembered a thread about recurved shields on this board.

Did a google search for recurve shield and found it.

http://www.longrideshields.com/

Don't know if there's one for the IS, but there is one for the Memphis Shades batwing.

Found an article on another forum about guys having trouble seeing through the recurve.
It is advised to order yours with the top about moustache level, you must look Over it.

Really ................
I understand if someone does not want to go into a new product, but to respond the way he did is not professional.
A one way mentality, no matter if he rides HD, Honda, Victory or any other brand motorcycle.

Let me know if you find a recurved shield, I would also be interested in one.

I have a C Baileys and really like it,  a heavy duty and really well made piece, just wished they had a recurved option.

Mmmmmmmm......... maybe we should contact them and ask, it never hurts to ask, just don't know what kind of response you are going to get   Grin

Here is what I got back from him.

Hi...I looked into this & the bottom line is that the tooling costs to cut & form a shield is a $4K investment up front. When I add new boxes and all the rest, it would have to be a 400 unit order @ $150 each just for me to break even. Just something that ss not doable for me. I do thank you for asking...

They told me it is 12".  I measured it and its 10.5" from the rubber lip to the top of the shield.

I had a Cee Bailey 12.5" and with the new shorter windshield I am experiencing less helmet buffeting. I only took short ride but I can tell the difference with the recurve.
Going on trip this weekend and will see how it is then.

The OE shield is 15.5" with only a half inch to mount below the chrome trim (15" showing), so I am thinking your shield should be 11.5".  I would be wanting 14-14.5".

It looks great, thanks for posting your findings.

The shield looks to be more of a perpendicular angle than OEM, is that the case?

Their instructions say that you are supposed to drill your own mounting holes, did you get the drill bit they sell?

I also see that if you do not want their logo, you have to pay for it $40.00, is their logo on both sides of the shield or just one side?

It looks like a dark smoke shield, is that the color you got?

Let us know how it performs.

Thanks again

Just got back from 400 mile weekend trip with new windshield. The wind buffeting at interstate speeds was terrible. Going 55 - 60 wasn't to bad but noticeable. I usually install a wider and taller windshield for trips but decided to try the new shorter windshield this time. The wife even complained about the "wind storm". The new shield looks great and will be good for short everyday rides.

The windshield does have a more perpendicular angle than the Cee Bailey.
I used a regular small drill bit and then enlarged the holes with a "uni-bit".
The logo can be removed with rubbing alcohol.
I ordered the medium smoke color.
