OK, a couple of months ago my wife got me a G9 power set. Great, well we just got her another helmet that allows us install hers. So we're sitting at the table, each with our helmets on.. coolsmiley and our cell phones in hand and trying to figure these things out. Haven't had much luck with the voice commands,at least not satisfactory results. We were able to activate the intercom and talk to each other. The problem seems to stem that if she's listening to music or I that switching to intercom seems to take a long time and then the reliability of going back to the music doesn't seem very seamless. Plus we had trouble sometimes getting them to re-establish the intercom link. Any thoughts and experiences. Sad

Holy Smokes!  I have a real love/hate relationship with the G9.  I love them ONCE they are paired, and they seem to need to be paired every time they are powered up.  I don't have advice for you, I suppose I am venting.  They could be louder too, hard to talk at all at highway speeds.  My wife and I both have full face helmets and windshields.  The love part is how much they add to a combined riding experience.  We both just put 750 miles on in the Banff area, so much to see and share!  Maybe some tech guys have some tips for us?

Check to see if there are any firmware updates available.

Follow the procedure for updating from their web-site.   I know a lot of these flashable headsets get rushed to market and then software updates are provided after the fact.   It may resolve some of your issues...worth a shot.

I can check that out, however when I got these I did the whole set up on the computer with them plugged into the computer via USB. I thought I remember part of that process was checking for firmware updates. Lips Sealed I know that I'm less than happy so far. These aren't cheap. We both wear half Scorpion EXO-100 helmets and it really hasn't been that hard to talk over my shoulder, even with my Cobra exhaust. I've taken phone calls while riding, and that was cool.

My buddies have the G9's and I have a single G4.
They all pair up well together but sometimes take about a minute for them to link together. I think it's just the nature of the beast. You'd wonder how that can be in this day of electronics.

On of the reasons I went with the Interphone F5...none of those problems.   Speakers get so loud I have to turn'em down.   Sync up with other F5 headsets and phone/GPS is super quick and reliable.

Don't buy from Ebay/Amazon.   Most of these are not authorized resellers and if you have a problem Interphone won't fix it directly, you have to go through the seller which most of time are lilttle mom-n-pop places that really can't help you.   I reckon that goes for pretty much anything electronic though.

Do a Google search for "Scala G9 Forums" and check them out.   You'll see lots of posts like yours and the suggestions/solutions offered by others.   I got a lot of my issues resolved with my Zumo 550 when I got it from the GPS forums.

Also....make sure you have the latest flash updates and read what those updates fix before you apply them so that you know what to expect.

Bought a Scala G9 set this Spring. I find they work well once I got them fitted properly. The speakers need to be very close to our ears though. So I put them on the webbing for the ears with nothing between them and my ears. Once you turn them both on it says rider A connected, and when you Blue tooth the cell phone connection it says cell phone connected every-time you turn it on. So after you've connected your G9 to the computer you need to register them with Cardo and install the updater. Once you have that software there is a control panel that you get on the computer that allows you to set various options like radio stations etc. Also allows you to set up intercom friends. This panel is needed for you to set up voice activation options on your G9. Well that being said, once set up. By pressing the center button on the side it beeps once while pressing and then will beep again to tell you it's waiting for a voice command. The commands are simple, " radio on/radio off", music on/music off ( to connect to you mp3 music on your cell phone if you have it playing). Intercom on/off. The button on top center push once and your blue tooth cell phone will say to you " say a command like any other blue tooth hands free device. We have found you can only do one thing at a time though. If intercom is on and connected we can't usually get radio or music until we disconnect the intercom. I believe it's because the intercom will stay active as long as the intercom is broadcasting. It broadcasts because it is picking up background noise on the microphone in both our sets. We enjoy ours and having the cell phones connected helps as well, if we get over 1/2 a mile apart and lose sight of each other, I can call her on the cell to maintain contact.

Yes I did all that when I set them up. Problem is that if we're streaming music via blue tooth and you want to go to intercom, it is less than a seamless transition and doesn't seem to work all that reliably. If you just want intercom, then great, but going from one operation to another, needs work IMHO Undecided

I have had my G9 for over a year; had a chatter box prior. The G9 for area riding is not bad. On long road trips.....there has to be a better solution of which I have none.
Because the unit will not charge while connected to the helmet dock, use/ time management of your system is key if your using it for NAV/GPS and want to listen to your music being blue toothed in. Music eats power from the unit. Never been able to get more than 4 hours of constant music use, might push 6 hours if NAV only before need of recharge. If your in the middle of nowhere and need your nav/GPS talking to you, save the music input for later.
The radio function from my standpoint is useless, even after programing local stations.
The system needs larger speakers, but that requires more power that the unit just doesn't have to spare unless they can make it chargable while in use. The buttons are not so easy to use with riding gloves on and I still have a cheat sheet I use mounted in my tank bag map pocket. Frustrating at times, the G9 takes some feeling out. No solutions, just observations.

Yeah, James, I'm not that overwhelmingly impressed by it. It suffices for being able to answer phone calls, wouldn't have bought them for that though. The GPS through the speakers is ok, the intercom, once the two connect is so,so. My audio system in my Woody's fairing, which I've upgraded, blows the head set away, no question there. coolsmiley not even close.
We bought them based on fellow rider's experiences. Now that I've spent the money on them, I hear all the negatives about them, go figure. uglystupid2

I don't use all the extra's........just from bike to bike. Had three linked together and the battery would last a full two days, maybe longer, but charged up at the end of day two regardless.
