Was detailing yesterday and noticed I have a small leak around the shifter seal.  I didn't see any fresh oil but can see some dirty oil around the seal.  I located and ordered the seal, should be here in about a week.  Is it normally OK to ride until I can swap it out?

Really?  Unless it's spreading a oil slick in front of your rear wheel, ride it like you stole it!

You can ride it till the part arrives, but if it gets too leaking on the ground when parked, that oil is getting on the rear tire.     That is not good.

When Mine did that I ordered a new one, but while waiting for it, I cleaned the area real real good then removed the shifter lever tapped the seal in with a socket and it didnt leak again for over a year
