Lately, I have smelled coolant while the engine is running.
-No watery substance in the oil.
-Doesn't seem to be a smell in the exhaust based on sniff test at the tailpipe.
-No visible leak.

Any ideas?

Make sure radiator cap is on completely...if it was removed without loosening the set screw it can mess up the sealing surface. Also check the integrity of the hose that goes to the reserve coolant tank.

It's also fairly common to need to tighten the clamps on both ends of the radiator hoses.

Then, look at the weephole in the water pump for signs of leakage there.

.........And on my bike, where the hose connects to the overflow tank, had a small crack in it that would only leak when the bike was warmed up. Some of the radiator fluid would drip on the hot exhaust. Off course that makes it easy to smell and fix.

Thanks for the ideas. If I get time in between Int'l Moto Show this weekend, I plan to look her over.  Until then, it's just ride and ignore the faint smell.
