Honda has made the filter to fit the Valk, GW, VTX, etc.  Heck, it even fits the Triumph RIII.  It is a touch shorter than the earlier oem but the same diameter.  I buy them in quantity from HDL.

I went to do a oil change on my valk a year ago and when i went to put on my chrome cover back on it would not go over the new filter.  i compared it to the old filter and the new one was wider. i call honda and they told me it was a new filter design for the valk and 4 other models.

Dunno, but mine are the same diameter(I guess) and my chrome still fits over it.  All chrome and filters may not be equal.

I'm sure that even with the style changes you could run a beer can like many do if you just wanted to hide the filter.
Can you chrome a beer can? Surely somebody has tried it.

Yup, just a tad bit shorter than the previous part number.
Also fits Kim's Spirit 750.
If your drink can cover doesn't fit snugly, one wrap of electric tape will tighten it up. cooldude

Kim's "Miller Lite" can cover.

Stainless salt shaker (no handle) from Wal-Mart or kitchen specialty store with a few rounds of duct tape works great also.  Tough protects the filter and polishes up nice.
