I've had AirFlow extensions on my bike since I've owned it.  They don't blue.

I have a set with the stock exhaust but cut piggies on my Tourer. Sounds great.

The piggies that mother Honda adds to the exhaust are there to get the exhaust note out to the rear of the exhaust tips.  Without those piggies, the exhaust note will resonate inside the exhaust tips.  We call that resonance drone.

With the addition of stacks and/or extensions (such as the 18" extensions) that are longer than the piggies, you can (and most likely will) start to induce drone.

Cutting the piggies just makes it worse.  Other exhaust mods to the oem exhaust just amplifies it.

If you ride without a helmet, it's probably not a problem, but if you ride with anything that covers your ears and ride behind a windshield, you'll get the drone in your ears.  If you have tinnitus to most any degree, you will notice it and it can drive you nuts.

The addition of a set of Grumpy's tips helps break up the exhaust note exiting the exhaust tips......thus eliminating/or reducing the drone effect.

Plus.....they just look trick.   cooldude

AND, you're helping a guy that has helped to keep the lights on here too.  Grumpy used to be a site sponsor.

Hope that helps.   Wink

You can tone down the drone with baffles from cpperformance.com.  Some photos at this link:

The Grumpies look a whole lot better though...

They're the 18" from AirFlow on OEM pipes.

Just know that they DON'T come pre-drilled.  You have to drill your own mounting holes.  Just transfer your holes from your old tips to the new ones.....measure twice, drill once.   Wink

Some of that blue painters tape works great for transfering those holes.   cooldude

Tapped them over the muffler body with a 2 by 4, drilled the mounting holes out of sight, solid as a rock.  Ran for awhile without the screws, gradually loosens up.  They need the mount screws.  About 4 inches to the end from the bag guards, nother 1/2 inch with the grumpies.  You need to watch for high curbs if you back in to park.   According to a dyno run, my Torque and HP was up a bit after the tips were put on.  99 HP,98 ft lbs torque.  Probly because it raised the back pressure I'd guess. Sort of tuned the exhaust. Also gives a more porche like tone.  I think you will like them.  Hoser  cooldude

Here's a nice how-too on full length stacks.
http://timskelton.com/valkyrie/how_to/stacks.htm

The Air flow straight cuts are very good, and if you do your part on install, the seams on the 18" tips are nearly invisible to any casual observation.  Especially under a set of Valk hard bags, where they are only visible on the high side.  They are certainly not visible in motion.

Yeah Jess I looked over the install instructions. Just decided to go 36 because you can't see the seam even sitting still cause there ain't on angel and only $60 more for the pair. I think it will be worth the extra$$

Mine are 39 inches with grumpy tips. Full length stacks. Rear baffle completly gone. The stacks were loose after I cut the slot for the hangers so I tig welded them in place. Sounds awesome but needs silencers for long trips.
