Harley Buds like the 402's ride and mileage. So searching the forum and found that in past some were starting to run the Dunlop K404 and a few started running the rear K491 on frt. Any present feedback on that. Ran the E3 and didnt like handling on wet roads. Cobras o.k. We ride twisties 75% @ 2 up. Also any prob. with that being Bias and Ct rear radial? Thanx

3rd care tire. Running the 55 Hankook now. Will need a new one soon. Definitely going bk. with CT. Not sure which one just yet. Prob. 60 Nexen. So you think frt. D404 Bias and the CT shouldnt go together?

bias on front and radial on rear is safe but not the other way around. there have been a few bikes from the factory that came that way over the yrs. a web search will being them up if curious.

I'm running a D404 rear bias ply on the front and a CT on the rear and have to say it works great in the rain and snow. Got caught in a heavy rain storm that turned into a heavy snow storm riding over Snoqualmie pass last year and the bike was rock solid. I will use the same tire when this one wears out. I've got about 8K on it now and it still looks new.

I have run a couple of K491's. They both gave me 30k plus miles. The first one cupped badly due to my negligence in maintaining the air correctly. the second just wore out. They performed very good and always were steady and had great grip. They removed my fear of dirt roads. I had read sometime back here that someone was useing a Michelin Pilot activ Rear as their front tire. I researched it a bit and found trike owners loved it and recieved 25-30k miles with them. Also some Gold Wingers and VTX 1800 guys were running them. I had one installed a couple of days ago and from the first 100 ft knew this was a different animal fron the k491. The stearing is very lite and there is no breaking in period as with the k491's agressive tread. I only have 60 miles on it so far but every one brought a smile to my face. Great ride and sticks great. If it gets half the milage of my k491's I'll be buying another! For reference every regular front has never given me over 10k. The original 206's were completly wore out at 8k front and rear. I do have this paired with a Michelin Hydroedge car tire with 30k on the tread. Look forward to wearing both out  The Pair. Doesn't exactly respond to your question, but I'm running a Shinko bias up frt., and a Falken Sincera radial CT.
It's the cheapest price I've found for a pair of tires, and so far, the longest lasting.
Will be going for a dedicated rain tire out back next change, need more grip in the wet.

I now have the Avon roadrider 130-90-17 reversed. Got good mileage (bout 1k more than stock tires ran) but not that fond of the handling in the twisties. Reason I thought would go back to orig. size.

I'm running the D404 w a taxi tire and it's been flawless. Ridden it 2-up for Sunday rides and 1-up road trip to Georgia via the Skyline Dr and BRP. Don't get much more twistie than that.

I put a Falken Ziex ZE-512 205/65R-16 on the back 3 years ago, with a D404 130/90-17 bias rear up front, Dyna beads for balance, 40-42 PSI on both ends. Last year I replaced the front tire with the same D404, the first lasted 22K plus miles. Quiet, no shimmies, solid in the rain (and it spent a lot of miles in the rain). I may change the rear this spring, but with what I don't know. The Falken doesn't exist any more, but I will stick with the D404 rear up front until they stop making it.  D404 at 17K miles. The Falken at 17K miles.  Fred.

I'm almost certain the K491 was discontinued. If you find a new one, make sure you check the date code on the tire. I pulled mine last spring after 20,000 miles because it was 10 years old.

Now I'm on a Nexen 5000 in 205-65-16 and with about 500 miles on it I'm liking what I'm feeling with it at this point in time. I went to another Shinko S E 890 on the front after a bias ply dunny rear that cupped out way too early I M H O. RIDE SAFE.
