Hi all
I recently saved a 2000 valk interstate fro being scraped in a salvage yard in WI
It has what I consider to be light left side damage from being layed down on that side
The problem I am having is getting a title for it
In WI if a vehicle is totaled by an Ins company the title is surrendered to the DMV and the VIN is labeled an junked in their system .  I live in MN and the DMV here will not give me a title without the WI title and WI basically told me TOUGH SH..
Has anyone had to deal with this before or dose anyone know a way around this problem
I hate to see such a wonderful bike destroyed
Thanks

MN could possibly issue you a reconstructed title,

In Iowa we go to the DMV, get a form from them, fill it out, turn it back in and wait for an inpsector to show up and look it over.   They issue a new VIN # and you are good  to go with a reconsructed title.

Here in Texas we file a mechanics lien against the vehicle. Cost from $100 to $150 but the title is generally clean not rebuilt or salvage.
Let me know if I can help.

In Colorado they have a "Rebuilt from Salvage" titleling process, check out:

Wisconsin might have something similar.

If not, find someone you REALLY trust in Colorado to assist you, just make sure you have any/all paperwork proving it was sold to a scrap yard.

G/F bought a stock trailer from Montana, when we got it back here we had to get a "VIN Inspector" to "offically" read the VIN in order to register it here.
There was not a VIN to be found on the trailer. Hmmmm police
But she got it registered as "home built" and they issued a rivet on sticker with numbers.
Had to do the same with a Harbor Fright trailer also.

Good luck
