I bought a spare rebuilt alternator from MARS in preparation of a cross country trip.
Later I noticed he has 2 types
rebuilt alternator
and a High Output alternator. [Not the one I bought]
I have a 1999 Interstate and now wonder if I bought the wrong spare alternator ....
so does the Interstate require a high output alternator ? or will the rebuilt alternator work?
Thanks in advance

I think you'll be fine. I'm running a Goldwing alt. on mine and haven't had a problem in 6 yrs. The Goldwing alt. doesn't make as much as the stock valk alt. but is a whole lot cheaper.

I have one of the MARS standards in my saddlebag and have had one installed in an Interstate and it works perfectly.  You're good.

I agree Mark.  Same here.

Ok, really good to know. I looked at the parts fiche for the standard and the interstate and it looked like different part numbers..so I thought I might have a problem with not getting the high output model from MARS. Appreciate the feedback.

The difference betw. standard/tourer alt and the I/S alt is the capacitor on the back.  I believe you can scavenge the cap. from your old one if your new one doesn't have it.  So, no matter which type of Valk you have, no worries with the "standard" alt.
I don't know about the casing on the high output alt., so I can't speak to that.

You would be wise to listen to Rocketman about alternators.  He is the expert on alternator replacement. (not by choice).
