I have a 2001 honda valkyrie. I am looking for some highway pegs to mount on the crash bars. I am looking at Kuryakan longhorn offset with dually pegs. It will fit from 1-1.5 inch bars. Does anyone have any recommendations for these pegs or would something else work better. thanks.

Not a recommendation, but your crash bars take an 1 1/8 inch connectors.   Make sure you get them or you will have issues.

Most of Kuryakyn peg kits come with the 1.5" clamps (for hogly davidson guards), and as said above the outer sweep of the engine guards are 1 1/8.  The kits are cheaper than buying parts individually and assembling, but you need 1 1/8 clamps.  I don't recall kits with 1 1/8 clamps, but I could be wrong.

And depending on your height, you may not need the longhorn offsets (many end up folding them back on themselves, which only has the effect of making them wider off the engine guards).  At 5'9" I have a set of quick clamps to large clevis to small iso pegs with stirrups, and they are perfect for me with no offsets. You could do the same setup with dually pegs and no stirrups. To get my feet on them squarely, mine must be angled back from 90* straight out to closer to 45* back; they look wrong and crooked to look at them on the bike, but fit my feet perfectly on use.  If you are taller, then putting them out closer to 90* off the guards will give more reach, and maybe still save the expense of added offsets.

The 4050s have the best HD clamp (much better than quick clamps, you can stand on them and they will not move) which mount down underneath lower on the engine guard, and when folded up they are very tight to the bike, and do not stick out farther than the engine guards (which if the bike does a tip over, may take a hit mounted at the 9 and 3 oclock on the guards).  I have the 4050s on my other interstate.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the air scoops are cut off my interstate with the 4050s.

do you have an interstate or a standard. it makes a big difference as to where you can mount the pegs. the interstate cannot be mounted under the motor due to a wind vent that is welded there. I had to mount my pegs for my interstate on the actual engine guard, which is good for me as I am 6 feet 3 inches and need the stretch.

One product stands heads above all others and they are Mick-O-Pegs! cooldude

You could spend a lot of money experimenting with pegs and mounts and wind up spending more than a set of MOPs.

Your legs won't be splayed apart like  gyno-stirrups and it is far easier on the hips.

I kind of like that position, gets more air to the boys.

ok WGS since you do not have an interstate, check out the kuryakyn model number 4050 pegs. I put them on my wifes valk which is a tourer model and they worked out great. they have many adjustments to fit any leg lenth, however the instructions were confusing, to me at least. but they are a great addition to the bike and they do fold up to get out of the way. hope this helps.

The 4050's clamp is heavy duty.

And very adjustable (both angle of offset arm, and angle of pegs)

But, if you have decent reach with your legs, you can see that going with a cheaper set mounted to the outer engine guards may be very similar foot placement as with 4050s.

I spoke with tech support for Kuryakyn and they recommended going with the 4050 and attaching them to the outer engine guard. Thanks for all the posts. I will go with the 4050.

I've had the 4050s and liked them a lot. Upgraded to the Ergo II from Kury (think they are 4059?, these look like a big footprint) and really like these. A little confusion on what they fit but they have both stops for either a gold wing or a Valk standard.

Hey Lyle,

I just got my KY 4041's in the mail. I am a little concerned about how they will look on my 97 Standard. I was surprised when I opened them with how BIG they are. I am sure they will be really comfortable but concerned about how they will look. Please tell me your opinion.
Thanks.

I have ones pictured above and they work very well.  Most of the time they are folded up and are unobtrusive.
