I appologies guys fro starting another  blog on Progressive shocks,I called Progressive  Today  and Jarred at Progressive told me the only shocks Progressive sell and recommend for all Valkries Is the 412 and 416 air shock both only carry 1 yr warranty, Jarred said as far as he knows Progressive wont honor the warranty on 430s and 444s if they know they were installed on a Valk `,ssssssshhh . That being said there are several 13'' 444 HD shocks made by progressive the difference between them is the spring rate IE the spring rate  for a Dyna 444hd  is stiffer than the 444hd  for a Ultra Glide,{THis Chit is making me crazy lmao} So My next question is which progressive 444 13''HD part number  or numbers are  You guys buying  for your Valk IS ,also did any one try to match the shock  you purchased to the valk stock spring  rate[ Does any  one know the Valk IS stock spring rate?]SO NOW What IM trying to figure out is which 44413'' HD to buy  I need progressive part numbers you guys  purchaced also how are you getting Progressive to honor the warranty Thanks guys again for any futher info you share on this subject,,, Also Jarred  said as far as HE KNOWS as long as you can prove you are the original buyer and have a sales receipt to that fact that Progressive will  honor the life time warranty on ONLINE Purchaces I Did ASK

Progressive Suspension 444-4233C Chrome 12.5" Heavy Duty Big Mile Riders Rear Suspension Shock
Automotive
Sold by JC Motors
Condition: New
   $496.49
Here is what I bought through Amazon, could have bought straight from JC Motors but chose to buy through Amazon. I chose the 12.5" because I went to the heavy duty spring and was concerned that there would be less sag and just my WAG that 12.5" would be a fair try. I;m happy with them. You're right, that Progressive's site does not list them for the Valkyrie, but several other sites do and I had read that others here had installed the 444s. The only thing I can say is that i did not get them in completely unmolested. What I mean by that is the eyelets where the mounting bolts go has these plastic like bushings. Theses bushings have washers formed on each side of those eyelets. The combined thickness of that washer area and the shock at those mounting points, is just a little too thick to fit. My remedy was to remove some of that washer material. I can see no adverse issues with doing this and I like the ride. It's just a FYI deal. The other options would be to find some leftover 440s,used interstate shocks,Works shocks or settle for the 412s or 416s. I'm happy with the results. I expect Progressive to honor their warranty if I have issues, but am hoping that doesn't happen. I realize that my removing some of the washer material at the eyelets could cause a picky issue with a warranty claim. It shouldn't... but that's just my opinion. coolsmiley There really is no mechanical reason it should, but you need to be aware of it. I know the 440s seem to have a high failure rate but the 444s are a completely new design. That is one reason i didn't want the 440s.

I got some info on spring rates from progressive ,their  web sits says for a standard Valk we can use a 412-4213c spring  rate is 120/170,their HD  for the Standard Valk is 412-4221c which is the only spring tey sell for the IS spring rate of 140/ 200, they don't list a 430 or 444  for the Valks but I did find out the 444-4221C which JC Motors and Phat performance list as  a fit  for the Valk IS has a spring rater of 140/200{interesting}.I could not get the tech at Progressive to point  to a part number  for a HD shock for the Interstate in a 444 or 430,he stating  that because of other factors  like  shock travel and  mounting point thickness and others he couldn't even hazard a guess{HMMM?}.So guys  if any of You Interstate Riders Purchased A 13'' Hd Shock in the 444 series  for their Interstate and are happier than a pig in chit with the fit and ride and have a Progressive # and spring rate info,I would be so very greatful  fot that info, oya LOL  where You purchased them and the price  also ,Thanks Guys

I gave you my experience, if you want the 13" just get the 13". I chose the 12.5" to keep the same feel of mt feet flat on the ground. It was a guess that the new shocks would not sag as much and it seems to have worked out great. Read above though for the rest of the story. coolsmiley
