Pappy and Tex, I realize you're just pulling our chains a bit...sorta. Many of us, myself included, have attended Leesbooger's Bike Fest since its inception. It's only been the last couple yrs. or so that I decided against it. At first it was kinda neat; a rather small town with a bunch of bikes, some entertainment, a few vendors, and parking wasn't an issue. Now, it's like a miniature Bike Week, and I don't go there much either these days except to see a few vendors I've become friends with over the years. I actually enjoyed Bike Week 35-40 yrs. ago....and the off-shoot, BikeToberfest that came along more recently.

Maybe it's an age thing that falls into the realm of "been there, done that" many, many times over.

I think, like you John, Tex is just pulling our chain a little... sorta Roll Eyes. The tongue-in-cheek name calling, sort of sounds like TJ, doesn't bother me even a little tiny bit. I think Pappy was just questioning Tex's assertion that we can't ride down Main Street. We are certainly capable of doing it, I, myself, just choose not to. Same reason I don't go to Bike Week or Biketoberfest. Riding in such close proximity to so many other bikes and people I don't know, with varying levels of experience and intoxication, just isn't my idea of a good time.
I prefer the company of my Valkyrie friends, circle burning in the parking lot and catching up, eating some good food, riding to a destination and looking at bikes and chatting it up with a good cigar...AAAHHH..paradise!  cooldude

Meet at the station around 10:00? Leave shortly thereafter. What I have in mind as a route won't really be so far afar.  Smiley  We'll come out on 441 south of the meeting place.
Maybe a little earlier John? Say 0930 or so? Just gives us a little more time to do some riding over there. Not sure what the traffic situation may be like.

That's OK, just thinking of others that may want to join us and have to go through town to get there. The route I was thinking of is easy and mostly country roads.  Go to Park Ave.(435) in Apopka, hang a right to the Kelly Park corner, left to Mt. Plymouth road(still 435) to SR46, left to 437, then right a few miles until it crosses SR44. Left on 44 into Useless(Eustis). Where it goes south, we continue on E. Orange Ave. to 19. South on 19 a block or so to Lakeshore Dr.(452), turn right. A mile or so down on Lakeshore is where I want to wake up the "hood." Another 3-4 miles it comes out on 441, turn right a few miles to the Hurricane on the left.

The only bad part about this route is you miss all the q-tips driving 30mph in the left lane around Mt. Dora and other exotic places....with their turn signal on since they pulled out of the driveway. I told one old gal about her signal one day and she gave me another one, apparently she's #1 in someone's world.  Cheesy

Jeff, I realize this is backtracking for you so if you want to meet up closer to Apopka I'm OK with that. Or....if nobody wants to do this, I'm OK with that also. Just a little different route, a few extra miles, and is the route I take to go to the Mason Jar restaurant on 19 north of Eustis. As for the miles involved, taking this route is an extra 7 miles from the gas station to 441 where it junctions with Lakeshore Dr.

You would really rather have a Hogley and it shows every time you get too close to one?
You cant make it past the vendors with the drive chain belts without buying another one?
At the sight of the 500th "Harley" shirt, jacket, belt, pants, shoes, do-rag, vest, patch, watch, chaps, socks, bracelet, pendant, tattoo, earring, underwear, or gloves.....you get this uncontrollable urge to hurl no matter the environment?
You already have a matching set of Skull shot glasses and there's no sense in going anymore?
You pinched/patted/squeezed/flirted with some cutie and her BF still remembers you?
I can go on but now I am starting to have to work at it...........

Oh THAT Hurricane! I spend half my time there when I'm in Leesburg... It's on the way coming and going from where we stay in Tavares. By the time I leave on Sunday each year, I've always found one of the waitresses there I try to "adopt."   Cool

See y'all there. Maybe I'll get there a little early and see if I can get them to reserve some Dragon Parking.

Oh and yes, I'm just yankin' y'all's chain, sort of. LMAO.

Roll on in sometime after 11 or so & the first Valk folks there try to save us some spots. I'm sure it will be a busy place!  Wink

All right then..0930(ish) at the Hess Station, Fairbanks and I-4. John, I know that route pretty well and ride that way quite a bit. Sounds like a good ride over. Backtracking is no big deal, at least I'm riding. Hate to miss the Q-tips though... Undecided.

A big Hello to all the Valkyrie owners. After 35 years of riding almost everything, I finally own the "best motorcycle ever made in the USA" and am already a Valkaholic. I have had my 2001, rare blue with white stripe machine for about 4 months. I will be joining you all at Hurricanes and for the long ride to Champions. A pity Honda have got the look of the new Valk all wrong. No doubt it`s a fine motorcycle, but here`s hoping the aftermarket boys can fix the butt ugly look of the thing.

Talked to the guys at Champions today. I told them to be ready for a "classic" Valkyrie invasion sometime in the afternoon Saturday.  cooldude  They have a new 2014 Valkyrie in blue on the showroom floor & are expecting a black one before Saturday. They also just received a yellow & black F6B. I asked him about the photo op with the new bikes & he said sounded like a great idea to him. They aren't doing any test rides this weekend though.

Thanks for your welcome Pappy. Yes, Eddie I have been a bit slow getting on the board. Don't worry about the fat and grey bit - apparently women love that look and I work on getting fatter and greyer every day. Looking forward to Saturday and Leesburg festival in general. Maybe we can collectively display to and educate a few more Hardly Driveable owners.

Welcome English Dave!
Gil, Tundra was planning on meeting me at Busch Blvd. & 40th st at the CVS, 8:30 am. Not sure we can get Billy to ride the bridges and slab over. We'll take 301 to Chauncy Rd to 471 up to Webster and 48; continue below the lake and up the short run on 19 to 44. Traffic is expected to be heavy as we near Leesburg thus taking 48 instead of 44. It's going to warm up quite a bit so I'd like to stay away from as much stop and go as possible getting to the Hurricane. Doug mentioned going to the Chrome Shop after Champions Honda; I may go find a parking space at the church if possible and stroll downtown Leesburg after and see if I can track down Ultimate for a seat and pick up a shirt for my son. I'm pretty flexible but would like to be home by dark.
Bert, got your message, that actually sounds like a good idea, thanks for the offer, we'll chat Saturday.
Valkahuna, Pete, sorry for the delayed reply, I was not sure I was going to make the ride until Wednesday. I've been mired in pushing papers from one side of my desk to the other for the last two weeks as well as several other projects. Retirement is much like work but there's more of it. Looking forward to meeting up.

I'll be heading up the usual way to the Micky'Ds in Land o Lakes At 8:00ish. Then to Hess in B-Ville
to meet up with Tood and Penny around 9:00-9:30. Out 50 to 301 up to 48 to 19 and up to 44.
So we might see Doug and James along the way. Gil you are more than welcome to ride along.
Would like to get to Leesburg by 11:00. Will be good to see everyone and meet some new riders.
Ride safe everyone.   cooldude

James

Anyone wishing to meet James and I...more than welcome to share the ride with us. Kickstands up @8:30am short ride to top of fuel, then onward. Call if you will meet us there, by end of day today please. (7two7)-5zero1-4zero99

All right then..0930(ish) at the Hess Station, Fairbanks and I-4. John, I know that route pretty well and ride that way quite a bit. Sounds like a good ride over. Backtracking is no big deal, at least I'm riding. Hate to miss the Q-tips though... Undecided.
Larue, Jack (come on my brother), does this work for y'all? We'll let John lead..who needs fifth gear anyway.. 2funny

Hey Guys,

The good news is that just today I was able to change my schedule so I CAN MAKE IT TOMORROW

The not so good news is that I am working tonight and will probably make it home around 3am so I don't know if I will make the Hess meeting to do John's "HIT THE HORN" thing or meet you guys at Hurricanes.

Either way, I'll c u all tmrw, looking forward to a good VALK showing    cooldude
