When I first got my valkyrie  it would get around 36 mpg
Now I lucky to get 28 to 30 mpg
It's a 99 with 22,000 miles

those ninja 250's get about 100mpg. personally, i would much rather ride my valk which seems to be around 150 miles per fillup.

but, if it bothers you, clean the carbs, change the air filter, polish the intakes, replace the intake seals, make sure theres no vacuum leaks...etc...then in the words of daniel meyers and others ride it like you stole it

Changed the air filter? Running different fuel? What do the plugs look like? Vacuum leaks? Could be a ton of things, or you could be twisting the throttle more cooldude

Well, if its lost just retrace your steps, you'll find it.
You didn't mention doing/changing anything. So, I'll assume its right wrist related.

I have found that poor fuel mileage, other than wind and rpm, is usually caused by a dirty air filter.  Some folks completely forget that it it needs service just like an oil change, tires, etc. etc. Hoser   Smiley

Also do a vacuum leak-down test on the petcock...a failing petcock will (contrary to surface thought) dramatically reduce the mileage.
