Ordered a new tire from Ron Ayers...got an email saying no ship charges on orders over $149 from August 1st to 24th. So...placed the order. After it was all over here is what the invoice says; Tire........$157 Shipping...Zero Total......$169 WTF! Guess I need to make a call bright and early in the morning.

I called them. Apparently, their computer is having a hard time with the free shipping. All will be good.

Is this the size and right Avon for the front of the valk? 150/80HR 17 BLK, Front, AV41 Looking at their website it shows for 137. If so I'll be buying one instead of the Shinko.

I didn't give all the info. Avon Venom R Radial AV41 Front price is also only 131.

150/80HR 17 is the correct size for the front of the Valk. That sounds like a great price. I went with the E3. Just put a new E3 on the back last week. Figured I better change out the front now. Don't know if it will get me to the CBR and back by the time that event rolls around. Now I will be ready.

Avon has not made the Venom's for awhile now.... they shifted to Cobra's as the replacement. That tire could very well have an old Mfr Date on it, hence the low price. Ask em how old it is and get the tire date. I don't even seem em listing the Cobra's on Ron Ayers site...... Check Direct Line Parts, they will price guarantee tires (which is what I had em do) and it made it even 5 bucks lower per tire almost....

That link you provided is for the Venom R's... which were replaced by the Cobra's awhile ago. Your local shop prices for a new Cobra mounted and balanced are not too bad.... and hopefully that includes removal from the bike. I recommend Cobras as I didn't care for the E3s but opinions vary. I have a Harbor Frieght tire changer and will be using Dyna Beads. I used to balance with stick on weights and rolling the tire on jack stands (still may before I install the beads). Good luck.
