Here is my carb synchroniser tool. The gauge on the right is used for the #3 carb as reference.
The second one goes to all the other carb passing thru an aquarium 5 way valve. It is very easy to make and work fine.

I hope the link to the picture works

How are those gauges working out for you? Looks identical to the 4 gauge set I bought off of ebay then threw in the scrap pile. I tried to sync the carbs on my nighthawk, got everything dialed in, shut the bike off and when I restarted it showed way way out of sync. Connected it to my mightvac as a test, and every single gauge was different. Tried to get them dialed in with the adjustment screw but as soon as a released pressure and pumped it up again I would have a different reading. Tossed it and bought one of these instead. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/MOTION-PRO-MULTI-CARB-SYNC-PRO-CARBURETOR-SYNCHRONIZER-TUNER-/140820871230?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c993f83e&vxp=mtr

I hope you have better luck.

Probably the first thing you want to do when synchronizing the carburetors is to generously spray all the linkages and connections insuring that everything is working as it should and always returning to original setting.

Failure to do this simple task can imperil the end result and make the job of carburetor synchronization very difficult.

look like the gauges Harbor Freight sells.
Thats what I have. I made mine a 6  gauge system (yeah, I know, not needed).
Anyway, before using, i check each gauge on #3 to be sure they are all giving the same read.

What Ken said is the key. If you're using more than one gauge, they all need to be checked that they read the same.

another thing....if any adjustment is made when the fan is NOT running, don't adjust another carb when the fan IS running. And, don't push on the adjustment screw while turning. Check RPM's after each adjustment
