Loud pipes not only save lives. They also anoy those who don't understand (and a few of us who do).
We trudge on (quietly).

Woody, Woody, Woody. What did you do last year to cause such a rule What's REALLY interesting is that they include motorcycles in the rest of the festivities. ??? Oh, well. Everybody's gonna be at your house anyway so why go to McKinney.

If you are a motorcyclist------------This should bother you. Protest in a manner you see fit.

You can't blame the City for not wanting copious oil puddles under each Hadlie!

In protest, I'm skipping their parade and the downtown shopping, too. Me too!

I've watched motorcycles on parade, anywhere from a police department in a formal city parade to the drunks cruising down the promenade at rallies. Obviously, a formal parade will be better than the latter, but with all those children sitting on the curb as the parade goes by, and a bunch of riders of unknown ability doing circles in the road, just one guy who's pushing his ability, or even one skilled rider making a mistake puts a large machine into a crowd of kids. I've seen some riders take very large loops in the street, coming close to running over toes of spectators. I don't know how much to trust those guys' abilities. Police riders tend to be on the higher end of skill level, and more disciplined as well. Cars, of course, are much easier to control at slow speeds. I don't see this as discrimination. I see this as them being concerned about safety and liability. We can discuss whether they're overreacting, but honestly, I've seen lots of less-reasonable responses to risk. Let's not get worked up in a "they hate motorcyclists" sort of way when it's not warranted.

There's much more to this decision than I am willing to reveal here. I will say that there appears to be a personal vendetta behind all this between the local PD (really one LEO only) and a local club.

Does this involve a club with a word in its name many would consider dirty (in that context) and most would consider inappropriate for what should be G-Rated entertainment?

Define "dirty" one more thing-- Hebrews 12:8 Zechariah 9:6 Deuteronomy 23:2 Done. Blessings Woody

So this is a bible-based bunch and that's the context? My mistake. I wasn't giving them that much credit. I figured they just want their name to sound all mean and biker-like.
Again, IMO not appropriate for G-rated family entertainment.
If I were the mayor, I'd disallow the all-girl Dirty Bitches and the backward ball cap wearing Dirty Douche Bags, too, even though, in different contexts, the un-Dirty part of their names have inoffensive definitions. I'd also find it easiest to just ban all bikes just to be consistent.
Although it doesn't have the same ring to it, and the embroidered patches would cost a lot more, perhaps they should change their name to something like Dirty sons of single women and irresponsible men.

Does not bother me a bit. The last parade I rode in found me idling a lot, dodging horse poop and kids running out to pick up candy and beads thrown by other floats. Having some "posers" trying to perform tight circles, etc is dangerous. I refuse to get worked up over this but that is my view and my opinion only so don't let me stop your protest.

There may be much more to this than we can surmise, but if I remember correctly, the main problem was with club's name and the explanations it forced parents to give to their literate kiddos. OK, how 'bout this for a solution? Take your colors off, stow them in your saddlebag, and be respectful of the wishes of your hosts. If that was a condition given and it was refused, I believe it's probably best that both parties go their separate ways.

Just fyi and my 2 cents. I'm friends with that club. I ride and hang out with them from time to time. I've gotten to know some of the members pretty darn well. They are a good group of guys. They work, pay taxes and raise families just like the rest of us.
Last time I checked we still lived in America, are all free men protected by the constitution and its 1st amendment, Freedom of Speech.
That being said, if some don't like the name, well then too bad. Not sufficient of a reason IMO to discriminate and not let them participate in the celebration of our Nation's birth.
Also, lets be careful with what is said online about any specific MCs, MAs, RCs, etc. Dont need things to be misunderstood or lost in the translation.
Thanks...
