Painting plexiglass

Thinking of painting the lower portion of my windshield , have seen it done and it looks good. Has anyone painted plexiglass if so what kind of primer and paint would be a good choice ?

I had done one like that,,, scuffed and wiped the INSIDE with lacquer reducer where I wanted to paint, masked off the windshield, then sprayed the inside with flat black from a spray can. It adheres very well to the plastic, glossy black from the front and non reflective on the inside. Looks good and holds up.

Can't really use primer, (would see it through the plastic) but, most paints would adhere to the plastic fairly well. I have seen candy paint applied, and you can still see through the paint, but, adds color. There is paint made just for that, but, don't know what kind it is

Krylon makes a spray bomb called Fusion. No sanding or priming, just clean and degrease.

Thanks for all the replies.I'll look for the krylon fusion and the idea for flat black on the inside and gloss on the outside ,I think that will look good.

Just to be clear on this Pancho, does the flat black appear glossy from the front because it's on clear plastic or did you paint the front of the plastic a gloss black? Or paint the back glossy first then with the flat?

If'n you paint one side of clear Plexiglas with flat, satin, or gloss, the other side will appear glossy. It's just like having a million coats of clear.
Unless you need to cover up something on the front, I would leave it alone and paint the inside only, as it will be more durable as is.
