UPDATE: 04/15/2010.  MY FUTURE SON-IN-LAW WAS OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED TODAY AS BEING IN REMISSION.  THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE PRAYERS AND SUPPORT.

--------------------------------------------------------

Hey, if you like to pray for random requests and do not want detailed information, please pray for David and ignore the rest of this post.  Thank you for your prayers.  For the rest, I apologize in advance for the lengthy post.

Okay, this is very hard for me.  When I feel compelled to respond to a prayer request, I usually do not respond in the thread (perhaps offering a prayer in silence).  On one hand, I believe in the power of prayer, but on the other, I question why bad things happen when so many people are praying for a different result.  However, I have noticed that there is a pretty strong prayer chain on this forum.

That said, I am requesting prayers for my daughter’s fiancé (and for my daughter).  Rachel and David are to be married in June next year.  Rachel is 23 and David is 24.  David has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer–a combination of B cell lymphoma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma (please do not ask me questions as I do not understand the diagnosis or the differences between Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma).  David began chemotherapy today (Wednesday 08/05).  The prognosis for David’s type of cancer is not good (maybe a 50% success rate).

It is not right that David has cancer at age 24 (being somewhat of a health nut), and I’m still kicking after smoking for 35 years (and drinking more beer during that time than what would be the recommended consumption for 20 to 50 “normal” men).  It is not right that what should be planning for the happiest day of their lives is complicated by whether the groom will still be alive on the wedding day.

Please pray for David.  Please pray for guidance for the doctors treating David.  And finally, if you have a chance, pray for David’s family and for my daughter.  Thank you.

Expect a miracle, it's not the power of the prayer but the power of our Heavenly Father that heals. Miracles happen around us all the time and we don't even notice. I will pray for the entire family tonight.

Prayers sent from TEXAS.  My brother had the Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer and is cancer free now.  It was a very hard row to hoe, 2 years of heavy chemo, radiation, and other treatments.
God Bless.
