I rarely see any DFW weekend rides posted here. Are there not enough VAlk riders in DFW to organize a Saturday ride somewhere?

Everybody's just waiting on you to post the details. Actually, one of the problems is the DFW members are so spread out around the Metroplex that just getting to a meet up location is a bit of a ride. AND, speaking for myself, sometimes its hard too get loose on the Saturday that's scheduled. A few times we wrapped our monthly meeting around a Saturday breakfast then rode afterwards. So, don't be bashful. Throw something out there and see what sticks.

Actually, the DFW "chapter" is one of the most active, but since we're spread out over a couple of thousand square miles, sometimes the activity is in little pockets scattered around the area.
We haven't had many DFW-specific rides this year, but there's been activity practically every month:
January - NYD ride to the Red River February - I think we slacked off March - Rainmaker led a ride to The Shed in Edom (poorly attended - you gotta show to make 'em go) April - Gathering of the Fools near Houston May - no ride in favor of Wrench Party prepping for Inzane June - Inzane
The next event I know of is the 4th of July Parade that Christbiker's been posting about.
I have to admit that I've done a poor job of organizing day rides the past year, but a significant career event got in the way. By the time I know whether I can ride on a weekend, it's too late to plan and pull the group together.
That said, BnB Tom had good advice. Anyone can plan a ride and post their intent. If people can go, they show up.

Speaking of Sat morning riding, I'll be heading to the Blue Hanger Cafe in the morning. Always a few bikers and pilots there. It's more a destination than a ride, but it's bike time. Planning to get there around 8:30-8:45.

Good place, I like Hicks airport too, good food and really nice airplanes stopping in for their $100.00 breakfast. Maybe these could be a unscheduled kind of scheduled places to unofficially meet, Snooty pig too, always seems to be groups there. ???

Were in, we just need a few days notice. We are self employed and have flexibility, but our saturdays are usually filled by wed.

When I joined this club it was a riding club, we rode almost every other weekend. Over time it became a wrench party club, now it appears to be mostly a monthly dinner club.
I know the last couple of rides I organized were poorly attended and didn't motivate me to organize any more, but Rainmaker and I had a nice lunch in Paris on that last one.
Speaking for myself, two and three day events are difficult to attend and halfway across the country is nearly impossible. I would enjoy some Saturday or Sunday rides again and I may be willing to dust off some routes IF there is enough interest.

I'm with you, Chuck. It is depressing to plan a ride, set everything up and find 2 or 3 riders at the start point on a good day. I have led many rides and would be willing to do so again should there be some interest in doing so.

Now that Timbo is working days and has Saturdays off, we're much more available for rides. I have to take the heat factor into account but I'm a pretty good trooper!

I'm working on a ride for early August (probably the 2nd). Needs to start early and end early due to the heat, so thinking about going to Hico to the Koffee Kup for a little fun riding on 4 and 51. Could also go to the Palo Pinto Cafe, which features giant chicken fried steaks.
Both trips are not too long and for our eastern folks, would not put them into an all day ride situation.
We haven't had any western rides for a while. Chime in if you have a favorite.
The Palo Pinto ride would go up to Graham and catch Hwy 4 from there to Palo Pinto. Could then continue down 4 to 20 or just head east on 180 back towards Fort Worth. The Hico ride would get to Hwy 51 and go south (still working on the best way to get there) and end up in Hico, then come back through Glen Rose past Dinosaur park and back on 67 through Justin back to the metromess.
So, keep an eye out. I'll plan the trip this month while I'm supposed to be working.

I've got a route planned now that would be just under 3 hours from Denton (380/I-35 intersection) to Palo Pinto Cafe. Goes thru Jacksboro, down Highway 4 to Palo Pinto. I think I'll pre-ride it when I get back from my Iowa/Nebraska trip before publishing the exact route.
With the general idea of a 8:30 meetup, 8:45 KSU on August 2nd, can I see a show of hands?

Left Kearney, Nebraska this morning at 6:30am. Riding shotgun down the turnpike just past Wichita, Kansas now. My better half is driving.
I have some maintenance to do on the Valk when I get home and then will go on my pre-ride one night this week. Once done, will publish final details. Meetup is the same, at the McDonalds there at 380 and I-35. That way, you can get some coffee before we take off.
More later.

Really nice folks and this morning when we left, it was 58 degrees. Wish I could bring that weather back home with me!!!! Thanks for the good wishes - only 356 miles to go! RM

Well, that pre-ride was a disaster. More U-Turns than curves. My trip planning would have to improve dramatically to reach "suck" level.
Will put together a different route and try again tomorrow night.
We'll get there somehow on Saturday!
