Gentlemen

I just bought a Valkyrie Interstate 1999 (with 65K miles) and after doing the preventive maintenance (engine oil/filter, break pads, clutch and break fluids) I washed and polished it carefully and I'm riding it daily.

Today I noticed a strange stain on engine, and it seems like a leak. The liquid is tacky and doesn't smell like gas... any idea of what it is and how hard/costly would it be to fix?

The photos:

Redeyetech on this site sells Viton O rings. It's an easy fix to do yourself. If you can find a hydraulic supply, get a #123 O ring in viton material. Don't buy Honda OEM.

Not only do they cause the staining, they are sucking air and cause the mixture to be off optimal.

Probably a little popping on decel too. +1 on the Redeye Vitron "O" rings. On the "Do-It-Yourself" scale of 1-10 with 1 being the easiest...it's about a 3 if you have never done it before. Then it's a 1.5 the next time and that's only because there are six of them. There are some good links to simple instructions on this board if you want to do it yourself.

Great pictures depicting the "intake o--ring issue".  I have yet to experience it on my '98 Tourer after 85k miles.

Dear friends

Thanks for the promptly support, I feel better knowing what is the issue now.

Since imgbin is going to expire the 3 photos in 1 week, is there a way to add them here for documentation purposes? So people facing the same issue would have a reference to help to diagnose the problem in their bikes.

Otherwise in a couple days the link will no longer be valid.

Best regards
