Thinking about heading up to Greenwood ( a wide spot in the road about equally NW of Denton, NE of Decatur) for burgers next Saturday.  Sweetie Pie's in Decatur will be the back up plan.

Who's interested?

Will be out of town, but would go otherwise.  Good burgers!

Interested, but it may conflict with plans to go to the gun range with neighbors while the woman is out doing womanly things with the mom-in-law.  I would want to do both in the morning time due to the temps being close to triple digits by then.  I'll troll for a bit and make a decision later.

Sounds like a delicious RI-Dea  cooldude

Sweetie Pie's (has great Chicken Fried Steak) came into play for Lori and I once when we rode to Greenwood on a Sunday - CLOSED SUNDAYS. Cry

  So, Saturday is GOOD Smiley

I like Greenwood.  cooldude

They have great burgers and it is a nice off the beaten path place to hang.  I need a break like this badly.

Just meaning its hard to get good dates for a group. I havn't made time to ride in probably a year, busy with the kiddos, and a messed up work schedule.

See how that works.  ???   ???    Wink Looks good and westerly to me. Could catch up along 35 somewhere.

Proposed route to Greenwood

There are three rally points.

The first is the Starbucks/Steak N Shake on the northwest corner at the intersection of 121 and I-35E (near Costco.)  I'll start from here.  Please gather about 9:15.  We will be KSU at 9:30.

We'll proceed to the second rally point at the NW Regional Airport (Blue Hanger Cafe) at I-35W and FM 1171.  Planned arrival is just before 10:00 with KSU at 10:10.

From there, we'll head to the third rally point in Justin.  There's a donut shop on the northwest corner of 407 (east) and 156.  Planned arrival is 10:25 with KSU for departure at 10:40.

Then it's off Greenwood for burgers bigger than a human should consume.  We should arrive around 11:30.

No structured return is planned.  We'll wing it.

Please let me know what rally point you'll be at so that we don't miss anyone along the way.

We had a great ride.

Baron, BnB Tom, Bosman (and Tammy), Brew1brew, Disco, and I set out from the first rally point.

We made a quick pass through the NW Regional airport to see if anyone was waiting there (after I nearly missed the turn for the airport and caused some consternation in the group about the quick manuever.)  No one was waiting there, so we just kept going.

Picked up Westsider in Justin.  He was ready and waiting, so no stop made there either.

Big Ed was supposed to join the group in Krum as we passed through, but we missed him there and he joined us in Greenwood.

The burgers were great, as expected.

On the return, Westsider headed for home down 51.  The rest of us took 455 east to Pilot Point before heading south and splitting up at 377 and 380.

Good seeing you today.

I wonder if that Metzler Ranch is the same family as the Metzler Restaurant in Denton.  If you have not been there it is a good place to check out.

Good ride with a good group to inhale some good food  Cool

I guess the 'bigger than usual' turn out was due to the long stretch of time since the last club ride... when it was coooooler  coolsmiley

For whatever reason, the weather was PERFECT (for July in Texas).  Didn't reach 100* till half way back to the house.  Wink

Thanks Valk Pilot for putting the ride together AND taking on the Presidential duties this past year!  cooldude cooldude

VP, Thanks for organizing the ride and everything else you do for the club.

The ride back was nice. That bypass you took from 455 to 377 was an unexpected treat.

Ride safe

Big +1!  It's not like you have any other demands for your time or anything...   Roll Eyes

I didn't want to bail on you guys, but after only two hours of sleep, two big glasses of sweet tea were not enough to counteract the effects of that big ol' cheeseburger and that bigger slice of coconut cream pie.

We hit the road back and I started yawning like crazy.  I almost kept rolling when we stopped at the Valero.

When y'all turned off 455, I couldn't get home fast enough.  When I finally did get home, I barely got my gear off before the man-eating chair trapped me for over 4 hours!
