Good morning all,

I just replaced my not quite worn out elite 3 tires on an interstate with a set of Avon Cobras.  On my first couple rides so far I've noticed that it takes considerably less effort to put bike over into a turn (using countersteering) with the new tires than the old.  Have others experienced this?  Do you think it's old vs new or different tires or a combination of both.  I'm sure I'll get used to it but it did catch me a little by surprise the first turn!

My personal experience matches yours. Some brands have less resistance in rolling and steering. I have gone through several brands of tires and each have their own feel when it comes to steering. I'm not sure if the wear on a tire will cause heavier steering, but, a new set of tires always feel good cooldude

NEW most always feels better than older used up and worn out. Draw your own conclusions on my inference!  Lips Sealed But on the TIRE thing-yup.  cooldude Been my experience that some tires feel better than others thru out their life and others not so much. RIDE SAFE.

You just found out why I use Cobras and won't change on the Valk.

It's a little of both.  The Avons do tend to be a bit more agile than the Dunlops, but then new always feels a bit that way after older worn tires.

Huh,

I have General Tires on all my vehicles (except my 1982 SilverWing (for sale)), but this post does not appear to be related to General Tires.
