A few things I learned was don't tick off fellow Valk riders for a lot of them are packing heat while riding.  That, and some go way too far in depth and detail on politics and religion.

I love California. Whenever visiting my Grandmother in Julian I rent a bike to tear up those awesome roads up there. I met a guy who rode his bike to Moab, UT. who lives in Ramona. We met up when I travel through.

I learned that someone on here will know where in the world you are talking about, and that 6hours from home with out the Valk. You can run into a VRCC member in a hole in the wall diner in an equally small town in Canada of all places.

I learned that it is a VERY SMALL WORLD when you can ride through Yellowstone Park and ride upon your neighbors that live about 5 miles from your house.  HotGlue and FlamingoBabe, right on the side of the road watching bison off in the distance.

And Eric in MD, you are a nice guy, you even share your coffee creamers with guys from Texas...  Smiley

Somebody mentioned family but I've got to reinforce that-we ARE family. My brother mentioned to a little lady on her first long ride-Emily-that she had no IDEA how many new Grand Parents she had just been adopted by! AND when I offered her her choice of Do Rags she chose the Black and Flame Valkyrie 1520 CC Do Rag. Emily-I hope and PRAY you get lots more long rides with yer Dad.  cooldude One thing I learned-DO NOT get between Strider and pie!  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.

Forgot one thing.

 - When you do start going to VRCC events you first get to know everyone by their Handle, then you learn their name. Then when speaking too, and or about them use either freely.

There are some people I've known for years here on the board, but have been introduced to them by their "real" names, and I'm always surprised to find out we've met ....

I'm not the only one.  Someone I've known for many years apparently only knew me as Phyllis, didn't know who Lyn-Del was!

- With all the years of posts, and knowledge in them don't immediately start a new thread! Spend some time searching those posts for my answer. 90% of the time they are already there.

- You are going to make friends here.. Smiley And you are going to loose your friends from here..  Embarrassed

- If I post a question looking for a specific answer, I won't get one. The great thing about the Valkyrie is that it is very customizable. The bad thing about the Valkyrie is that it is very customizable. Everyone has their own great opinions on how to customize, maintain, etc the Valkyrie.

- For the love of God don't give your 2 cents worth on another political opinion thread!

- I travel quite a bit, and it seems to me that with a little effort on the VRCC there is always a fellow Valkyrie rider wanting to meet up wherever I go.  cooldude

- Categorize your posted correctly under "General" and "Tech" or someone will do it for you.  2funny

 - (From others) I learned how to quickly discredit yourself here on the VRCC. Post something positive about an HD.

Please add what you have learned over the years as well...

- I learned that Valkyrie riders eat pie like no other riding group,  and at InZane I can't afford a whole pie, and would be broke after buying just one slice.

I learned that some of our Valks and wings work harder than
others do.
Some Valks and our Wings look at us and say Oh no I have
to lug that butt around again! And then some of our Valks and Wings look
at us and say Is anybody up there? Am I by myself on this ride.

I just got back from the D R U in Indiana, AND  I  LEARNT:

No one person can keep a secret when you screwup
All members remember your handle--good or bad--THEY REMEMBER  !!!
JoeIS has a very pretty wife who can out ride his Interstate on a Tourer
Bruce (DDT) is an    I  C  O  N  and needs special recognition   cause HE IS  SPECIAL!!!
Lorrie is a fantastic nurse when you have a question
Lulu has a boyfriend with a truck
Cameltoe has one ---I just don't have a way to describe him or his bike
Grandpa, Dad, and son do ride the Indiana countryside seem brighter even from the rear
The kill switch does not need a battery jump
Good friends come in all sizes-discriptions--persuasion--lie like hell about WHAT HAPPENED
Rainman can answer any and   A  L   L  questions regarding ANYTHING
Gavin can hide the fastest of any superhero.
Monica is one sweet lady who can put up with (you choose)
Accidents, don't matter how bad--will be cured by our members and they do it with passion
Do not, under any circumstances, have a bladder the size of a pea when you ride with members
Expect the unexpected because it will happen at a rally or any bike get together
Any one can have friends---BUT real friends will be right there with you in a jail cell
Good quality entertainment can be had at a price---free
A urinal can have several uses if used correctly
No one can be alone for very long if the they have free beer

DO NOT LOCK UP YOUR KEYS IN THE BIKE BEFORE AN IMPORTANT RIDE WITH MEMBERS

THE VRCC MEMBERS ARE THE BEST FAMILY FOR YOU TO HAVE---THEY BE THERE --- PERIOD

Good night sisters and brothers--ride safe---love long and hard--respect each other as they respect you

Now entering my 60th year, I am finally going to fulfill a bucket list item of doing rt 66 to Santa Monica, up the PCH to SanFran, then back East by the Lincoln Highway to MI. My children and grandchildren are concerned with me making such a journey by myself. My oldest daughter took me to get my CPL for father's day so that I would carry some type of protection  for my trip. But I keep telling them is that the one thing I learned on the VRCC is that you are never alone.

I've  learned:

You  get a better perspective of all the different types of folks who make up VRCC and post on these boards by actually attending an event.

That the advice you drummed into your kids all those years to keep their political and religious views private in the company of strangers, works well for you too  Wink

You realize that after putting on what you consider a lot of miles on the Valk you've had for 15 years, that your bike is nowhere near the end of its "shelf life" after hearing of all the truly high mileage Valks still out there running strong

That I've been really... no - REALLY  lucky, running all these years on OEM valve stems....

That even though you may not be even close to being considered a crack mechanic, you can surprise yourself when utilizing all of the info available on the tech board, or by simply posting a question

That there actually is a "ball" cap big enough to fit nicely on your big old head (VRCC ones purchased at Inzane this year... awesome!!)

Tryin to figure out WHAT is more responsible for ALL of US getting together for the things we do? The computer or the Valkyrie? I'm of a mind we would NOT have had one without the other! I do realize there are other M/C boards BUT I've found Family and Friends here. How else does one meet a truck driver from Tn. and most of his friends or a barrister and most of his friends from N Y or some cursed good people from Tx and most of their fiends and a couple from Ks-the guy IS married to a fine pie baker or the many others I've met from the U S of A and Canada and this past
June from Germany? I'd absofrikinlutely LOVE to make more rides BUT certain things make THAT not possible. If I've failed to mention some folks I've met-chalk it up to a less than stellar memory. I will mention a family and friends in the Hoosier though!  2funny To think a M/C is at the center of all this-wow and damn and a whole bunch of other superlatives!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

 - I have learned that after having attended my first InZane it will be painful to miss any future InZane's.
