I apologize upfront, as this is sorta-kinda a double post. I posted this question in my introduction thread in the General forum, but it really got lost in the midst of all the welcome posts. So again, my apologies upfront.
As suggested in my intro thread (and several others as I have searched around the forums), I am looking into the Ultimate seats since I am not used to the leg position on the Valk, and my knees are in pain after about 45 minutes. I am 6' 1" and about 285lbs. A quick question for anyone that has the KING Big Boy seat for the Interstate, if I may. I am heavy, and was told that the King BigBoy would raise me up about 2", and back slightly to give an overall effect of more leg room/less knee cramping. I was wondering, however, if that rearward move decreases the seat space for the rear passenger any. My wife is also, ahem, large and I really can't take away much space, front-to-back, from her seating area. Anyone have any practical experience on this matter?
Again, thanks for any help/advice here.

Can't answer the intruding on passenger since I don't have a ultimate BB seat, but hwy pegs on any MC is a Must so you can move around a bit and that should help a ton with the knees.

I do have some, but the previous owner must have been shorter to me, because it looks like they are mounted to the closest exhaust header to me, whereas I would use them further up/out. I am terrible (and dangerous) with a wrench, but I am going to see if I can remedy that. However, would still like an answer to the OP. Thanks though!

I would contact Des directly at Ultimate Seats and ask him the same question. He's a VRCC vendor/supporter and a good man to deal with.

Yeah, I did that and he responded. Great guy, and they are located 15 minutes from where I work. He said the King BigBoy would raise me up a MAX of 1" (not 2" as some others have stated) and about 2" back. He does not believe it will impede on passenger room at all. But I was just hoping someone here could verify that last bit is all.

it does take away from passenger space. However, There is a way to move the trunk back with a little flat steel and some rubber. When i got my mustang seat, it moved me back an up about an inch each way or so and it felt like my wife was resting on my shoulders and we were cramped. I devised a way to move the trunk back an inch and up about half an inch. It cost me less than 10 bucks all said and done and is not noticeable at all even to fellow valk riders. here is a pic of my trunk moved back and up. This is how I moved the trunk back. Used 3"x3/16" flat bar and moved all the holes back 2". I also used some 3/8" rubber as spacers This is with the trunk moved back 2 inches. With a normal sized wife, this is too far. It changed the handling in heavy acceleration. I recommend just one inch. With it at one inch, I did not notice a change in handling at all.

That's what I was looking for! Thanks a million. As I work at a steel distributor, that will be very easy for me to accomplish (even with my complete mechanical ineptitude). Thanks again!

If you are that close to the store, just go over and ask for a seat demo on your bike.

I have the Ultimate King seat. It did a lot for seat comfort. I can't say that I noticed any improvement in the knees though. I only ride 1 up, so I can't speak for the passenger.
My biggest knee improvement came from Mick-O-Pegs. They are awesome! They are not for twisties, but for straight and mild curves, and have been a big improvement. 600 mile days were very doable on my trip to Alaska this summer. Without the ultimate seat and Mick-O-Pegs, I don't think I would have enjoyed the trip as much as I did.

I have the Ultimate King seat with driver back rest. I'm 6'6" and 300#. The seat along with highway pegs mounted to engine guard with 1" off set along with floor boards and lowering kit make bike quite comfy (yes, I scrap boards A LOT! but will take years before edges are gone). My wife is bigger too, I remove driver back rest for longer trips which gives plenty of room and she's more comfy to lean into anyway. Best investment I've made is the seat and lowering kit. I've put over 70,000 mile since I bought it 6 years ago. Also, I bought the pass. back rest too for IS, wife likes that much better. Sits her forward just a bit. Hope this helps, safe rides to you.
