I had that happen several years ago, so I'm going to give you what I can remember...

under the left side cover where the relays are, there is a connector plug that the lights run through, that was corroded and that was the problem..cleaned it up and everything worked fine...

There is no relay in the headlight circuit of the Standard or Tourer.
Fudgie, are your tail light and meters dark and your accessory terminal not working? If so, the problem is with the IG2 circuit of your ignition switch. If not that, I would check things in the following order:
1. Check headlight fuse.
2. Change headlight bulb.
3. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity between the green wire at the headlight socket and the negative battery terminal.
Steps 4 and 5 with the ignition on:
4. Check for power to the blue/White wire in the headlight case. It takes power from the start button to the high/low switch. If no power, check blue/red wire to the start button.
5. Check the blue (high) and white (low) wires for power from the high/low switch to the headlight.
