i have one and need to change the oil as teh lift slowly lowers itself, therefore dangerous.  looking at tha manual one page calls the screw at the bottom of the chamber the drain plug another page, the fill plug.  I suppose it can be both, but i could not get oil back into it.  (now a question, do i need to remove a rubber o-ring inside?)  any help would be greatly appreciated

I just purchased a Sears lift, and had to purge the air from it.  The plug at the bottom of the "jack" is the drain.  The fill or vent is about half to 3/4 the way up the side.

I have the yellow H/F M/C lift and it has safety stops at various heights. Whether my Lady is on the lift for 10 mins or 10 days it is lowered to a safety stop. Hope you get it repaired correctly. RIDE SAFE.

I lift my bike up barely off the ground, not all the way to one of the stops.

It will definitely leak down, and your bike will fall off if you don't take precautions...

I jamb a board in the scissors when I put mine on the jack, it has stayed
up for weeks with no problem many times...

My Sears lift started to leak down about the 3rd year.  Decided it was time to read the instruction booklet that came with the jack. It tells us to change the oil once a year. I found some jack oil at Autozone our town lost it's Sears store.
If I travel in the winter I adjust a jack stand to fit loosely under the bike for piece of mind.

The one you bought in the 70's more than likely is AMERICAN Made. And the ones you will find today will be made somewhere in Asia Undecided

About the same for me also.  Replaced with fresh jack oil and it got a lot better.  Still bleeds down a tad, but it's usable as it is now.  Before, it bleed down almost as fast as I could pump the peddle.

INTERESTINGLY,  my Sears Jack DOES NOT have an upper fill hole.  where they DO show a phillips head screw in later pics, mine has none.

figure 2 of hte manual indicates the "fill hole" as also the "drain hole".......well i took out the components ( check ball, etc) hoping oil would go into the cylinder... no such luck.

Apparently my model 90150 is a throw away???  anyone have experience with this?

should i just buy a pitbull lift?
