Wow! I guess I’ve missed a lot since I’ve been gone. Like many of the other members I haven’t been able to go on any rides or attend any meetings, but that’s life, huh. But every once in a while I still check back to the web site to see what the clubs been up to.

I remember the first club meeting I attended; it was in Grapevine at Willhoites. It was amazing to me to see that many people getting together for one common interest, and that interest being the Valkyrie motorcycle. The club has been a wellspring of information about the bike, both from the local chapter and the national club. By bringing everyone together in this manner it created a data base of information that I think every member has befitted from.

I also remember one of the first rides I went on with the club. That day we where riding about 12 to15 bikes strong, and all Valks. We pulled into Downtown Grandbury that morning, and the square was already saturated with the usual Hardly crowd all checking out each others bikes, but when we rode in all eyes turned to us. I don’t  know what they were thinking but it sure looked like they wanted to get a peek to find out what these big beautiful bikes were we just rode in on.

I was really fortunate to have been in the club at that point in time. I don’t know if the club will ever be the way it was back in those days again but I do know one thing and that’s that the club is still alive for the reason it grew in the first place.

The Internet! We all perused interest in the Valkyrie through the internet. Most all of us found the DFW Valkyrie Riders Club through the Internet.
So here’s a wild idea, instead of worrying about trying to get everybody together to a meeting on a work night. Why not concentrate on stimulating interest online. I don’t know exactly how we can do this but I’m sure we can come up with something if we put our minds to it; We’re smart people, right! LOL!!

One thing I noticed gets people in the mood to go riding is pictures or video. When I see pictures of rides I missed out on, it gets me in the mood to get out there and ride, so no matter how small a riding group or where you go take pictures of the ride and post them. One thing I miss about the old message board is that when you would post a picture it would show an icon showing that the post had a picture, and if you notice posts with pictures get the most views, thus stimulating more interest.

Well that’s my thoughts on changing the club structure, oh on the subject of admitting non Valks into the club? I don’t think the club has ever been so formal that we exclude any brand of bike from riding with us. And unlike other clubs we never have asked anybody to sign anything to ride with us, so why even go there.

The Valkyrie is the cornerstone of the club, if we lose that we lose the “V” in VRCC and just become Riders Cruisers Club: just another riding club.

I’ve got to add my .02¢ and I agree with the other posters.  I belong to three clubs and numerous other riding groups and none of them make me feel the way I do when I ride with a group of Valkyries.  There’s this sense of superiority over the twinkies that makes me feel like pointing and laughing sometimes.  We already accept all bikes, even hardley’s, so why do we need to change?  Simply changing the club name will not cause a stamped of new members to join.

There are a lot of Valk riders out there that are not members of this club, this is obvious from the amount of “who was that” posts that go unanswered.  We need to recruit every Valk rider we see on rides, in gas stations, at dealerships, wherever we see them.

Either way; I’m here to stay.

Glad to see you are still around!( ElGato)
maybe you have a point! How about a monthly meeting via internet?

I'm sure Daniel can figure out something so we could log on and voice our opinions live!
That would take care of us who can't be there.
as we have all stated, we are DragonRiders and proud of it!
