Took a little time away from my sewer project to install my Led headlight bulb this morning.       Super easy, took less than 5 min to complete.

It fit with out any mods, hold down is still stock.

Rubber boot back in place, heat sink/fan screws on after boot is installed. It has a power supply for the fan 5 volt, is small enough so no problem tucking it behind the wiring in the bucket.

Low beam

High beam
There is a big difference between high and low beam, high is very bright. I made the mistake of looking at it, saw blue and green spots for a while after. I am very satisfied with the bulb and the light out put.

I'd love to get one but don't have enough room for it in my bucket. Can barely get the stock unit in there.

Looks good Bill.  Can you put in a link to where you get one?

We should get you and Doug and a stock one side beside for review pictures.

I picked this one up on Ebay  Originally I ordered some from China, but delivery was lost some where and they issued a refund. The Ebay one came from over seas also, just felt better dealing with Ebay and PayPal.

Any idea what the current draw is compared to the usual Halogen bulb? Everything on my bike is LED except for the headlight and driving lights.

1.3 amp on low beam, 2.6 amp on high beam.

Nice light! Curious to know if you had to secure the power supply in the bucket or did you just tuck it in?

Thanks,
Dan

I just tucked it behind the wiring. I checked it before I put it there, left the headlight on for 30 min, the power supply stayed cool, so no worries about it getting too hot.

Did you have to install any type of relay or just swap bulbs?  I don't know power draws, will this put the battery at risk?

 Thanks

Cycle Gear has them in stock now. Just bought one $60.00 plus tax. Still need to install but
it looks like plug and play.

Better for the battery, draws less than 2 amps on high beam. Stock headlight draws close to 8 amps on high.

Bill, just wondering.....does it take up anymore room behind the lamp where the plug is on the back of it? Reason I ask is, I don't have any room back there....or pretty much anywhere else in the bucket. I'd sure like to hook one up but my other ventures involving wiring may negate it. Also like to have my driving lights coverted to LED, that would make the entire bike LED. My alternator would be alternating for the next ten years or less....whichever comes first.  Grin

Yes it does, the fan protrudes about 3/4 in more that the stock bulb does.

For those that have installed, did anyone remove the internal cone over the stock lamp? This would be the "bullet" inside the reflector. Does it help or hinder the light output/pattern. Any advice.

Not that I have seen, several in the area are using led's with the cone still in place. I believe it helps reflect the light back into the main reflector.

I did not remove the cone, never thought about it. I also thought it was designed for proper reflection? Probably be a retina burner without it?

Has anyone used or could chime in on using the Cyclops LED light in an Valk Interstate, is there or would there be installation issues?

I found that the rubber boot had to be trimmed in order that the fan vents would not be blocked.  If you look at the fan assembly, it has a conical base with four sets of three vent slots.  The conical base fits into the rubber boot, and the vents are covered.  I used a pair of fingernail clippers to trim away the conical area of the rubber boot, nearly to the top.  This clears the fan vents so the LED can perform as designed.  Not much of a fan, but it looks like the heat from the copper heat sink on the back of the LED is drawn out to the back of the fan assembly.

You can see the conical fan assembly on the eBay photos:

Great light!  I was looking at LED pod lights, but this setup performs really well, quite an improvement over the stock headlight.

I really want to add this light to my '97 standard. Where do you plug the fan power wire into? Please excuse my ignorance, but I do want to learn how to do this.

It is all self contained, just plugs into the existing head light plug.

Does anyone know definitively if the "bullet" is required? Mine has broken off at the base of the arm, it has completely ruined the lighting pattern for the stock bulb, will it ruin the LED pattern too?

Yep, it reflects back into the main reflector.
