I have just purchased a 99 STD Valk, my 2nd and 6th GW. This scooter has a terrible stutter at idle and low,  low RPM. Revs fine and strong power. Smells very rich in the garage and have a blue pipe or two.  Anyone have an idea where to start?

1st check all vacuum lines
2nd  check (read) all spark plugs for the color
3rd  check the enriching valve on each carb to be sure they close well (choke)
Valks runs rich but if it is too much it could be a choke valve sticking

Good luck

How long did it sit? The low idle jets may be gummed up a bit. Try adding Seafoam or Star tron and ride at low rpms till it cleans it out. Keep your rpms below 2000.

Also, let it set overnight with a shot of your treatment in the carbs.

Next day take it out for another wander around under 2,000 RPM's.

Might have to do this 3 or 4 times to get it cleared out.

Key on this is keep the gas treatment in the carbs when it is setting.

DO NOT run it above 2,000 R's while you are running  out this tank of treatment.    If needed, do a 2nd or 3rd tank.

PS:      Disregard the directions on the bottle.    Pour ALL of the bottle into the tank you are treating.

I recommend Berrymans B-12 fuel additive. I have used it on very difficule carbs . Other than a total cleaning , this is a good short-cut way.

It's not supposed to be idling at low, low rpm's.

The idle should be at 900rpm's to 1000rpm's.

Ahh, found vacuum 2 vacuum line broken off on the smog nipples on the carbs. Put new plugs on all, solved the idle problem.
