Lightbar problem
«
on:
August 23, 2009, 07:38:41 PM »
I purchased a Lightbar off ebay for my 98 Tourer and before I even begin the install I see a big issue here....
The Lightbar is made or sold by National Cycle model # N920
The problem I see s using my OEM Tourer windshield it looks as the bracket for the bar isn't going to mount due to the shape and size of my windshield. Short of cutting on the windshield below my headlight has anyone installed this Particular light bar using the OEM windshield? And has anyone ever cut away portion of the windshield below the headlight? I just hate the idea of cutting on my windshield to be quiet honest...

Many have cut their shields height and/or the lower portion for quicker removal due to lightbars.
Your cuts would be small sections. A fine tooth jigsaw blade at a slow-medium speed [so you don't melt your way through it] and then 800 grit wet sand followed by 12-1500 finish wet sand, should round your cut edge for you and if done carefully leave an invisble edge/s of the laminate at the cut. Fairly easy to do if not rushed and protect the screen with blue painters tape from the jigsaw foot plate. Screen tops are easier with a belt sander you mod is probably easier to cut.

This might work for you. It moves the headlight and lightbar (if it mounts to the headlight mounting bolts) forward:

Thanks and yes that may do it perfectly and yes the light bar does mount to the headlight mounting bolts.
