I live in Florida on the east cost about an hour half south of Daytona.. So the drive to Oklahoma was supposed to take 19 hours... Took more like 26. The drive straight-through (was on a schedule) was a pain in the d*** and with two flats on the trailer on the way up, it was easily the worst thing I've ever experienced.

But let me tell you something. It was all worth it. Hearing the bike start up the first time after work completed after having a slight suspicion/expectation of something to go wrong is plain paramount number 1. Number 2, the fat lady SCREAMS. I've test ridden the 1800 Valkyrie, and I'll say right now that mine is faster and more powerful. The heads are milled/honed/ported/matched as well as the intake risers. Of course after milling heads, the pistons needed to be fly cut for valve clearance, he did that. Cleaned out all carbon from sleeve and pistons. Carbs are completely redone like brand new, airbox is modified, and bike desmogged and done right. This engine now has exactly what it needs to run clean slate and with more power/torque/capabilities than stock.

The bike pulls up through 130 and if not for my invasive thoughts, it would have continued to pull without hesitation. I have 6-6 exhaust and couldn't get away from the popping and after work completed, letting off the throttle at high speeds and not A SINGLE pop.... I'm impressed. With rebuilt carbs complete, and synced... This was definitely done proper. While he was at it, he'd swapped out timing belts for new ones I had bought.

I honestly don't give a f*** to hear any keyboard commandos tell me how I shouldn't have had certain things done, because in the end, my valk is faster than yours. So please, kindly save it Evil

I advocate his work 1000% in case anyone was wondering about his performance package.... Attic Rat Performance Works only performs work on the Honda Valkyrie.

That's awesome! All the way from Florida?! Did you leave it there and . . . get a motel room? I certainly haven't read anything but very positive posts about Attic Rat. Maybe I'll take my blown Valkyrie to see what else he can coax out of it  Evil

It took him 3 days to do the work, and yes all the way from Florida... Can I just say... LONG ASS DRIVE lol

I stayed with the CP of the Tulsa chapter of my motorcycle club while I was up there, but spent most of the days with Attic rat learning, as he was happy to answer questions (but probably honestly just wanted to be left the heck alone)  Grin

Oh and just this saturday I saw 6500 rpms in 5th gear.....= 145 m.p.h.     I do admit it was slightly down hill and I was kissing the tank.  Evil

The attic rat is not only a great mechanic and Valkyrie guru but he's also a standup guy and a great friend.  I live in OKC and I last year my 2001 Standard just died and I couldn't get it started (petcock problem but I didn't know that) I called atticrat to see if he had any ideas and he drove all the way down here from Tulsa with a trailer if he needed to bring it back to Tulsa (but he figured it out at my house).  I do not know of any mechanics that make house calls - only friends.  Mr. Smith is a great friend and stand up guy who happens to also be an expert mechanic.  Enough said.

Bob aka Attic Rat took 5 days to do his performance job. He showed me why going over 3000 rpm sucks more gas. I have gotten 40+ mpg, but it wasn't much fun. I am lucky I live 7 miles from him. Plus there is one of the few gas stations that has ethanol free gas by his house. FYI haven't had to use my choke since then. He doesn't state how much horsepower you gain, but it is GREAT!!

I got an Attic Rat fund going and when I have the money and more important the time, I'm going to set up an appointment with him and get my bike done, I got my bike about 3 years ago and I would love to see/fell how it is suppost to run, AR is a master and knows that flat 6 better then anyone.

The thing that I like about AR is when ever I read someone praising his work and how much more power and faster the bike is, Bob will mention "Don't forget the improvement in your MPG"  I think he is more proud of that then anything.

Keep up the great work Bob, The Attic Rat, Smith.

This conversation reminds me on one I had with a fellow rider a few years back, he refused to even consider a car tire because Mother Honda knew what was best for our bikes but then he went off to Oklahoma and had the Attic Rat performance work done.  Seemed kinda hypocritical to me.

One of these days I like to visit Mr. Rat and get my Valk souped up...

I sure hope Bob is training an "apprentice" cause when he gets "sick-up and fed" of humans , he needs someone to carry on his legacy...he is truly "One -of-a-kind"..Certainly glad to know him and to have had the pleasure of conversing with him..nice man !!

I would love to give at least one of my Valkyries the Attic Rat treatment if it wasn't for that pesky 7000km round trip between us. And the painful exchange rate right now.

I called Bob about doing my carbs and he confessed that he has at least a few MONTHS of work backlogged....but then the local dealer stealer took several months and it wouldn't run right and I paid another dealer $240 to fix it right....

Does anyone have information about cost? I have a 1998 std, with viking pipes and the Dyna engine controller as a base to start. Bikes performance is very good, but would like to know costs. Thanks.

I hope to take my Red and White to Attic Rat one day  cooldude ...

The OP said he'd test ridden an 1800... that's not the same as
that first day you get the chance to pass a truck on a curvy road...  Smiley

I live in Richland, WA I'm working in Georgia right now, I'm flying home on April 19th picking up my bike and riding it down to Tulsa so Bob can do his performance work on my Valkyrie, I can't wait for him to do it.  I'll drop it off and I plan on picking it up at the end of May.

I'll have to give Bob a big +1. He finished my bike in January and I'm in love with the girl. I've stopped looking at other bikes now.  Thanks for the smiles Bob!
