Got my new Corbin Seat!!

My Corbin seat came in this week! I got it mounted and have only ridden a few miles on it. I'm already loving it, so I can't wait to get it fully broken in (Corbin says 1000 mile brake in). It's SO MUCH better than stock! And since I have always been a proponent of Ultimate seats I have to say that so far I like the Corbin at least as much as my previous Ultimate seats, and definitely better than the Ultimate low rider that I had on my 2002 Valk Standard!

Yes. After I got my Corbin seat, I quit riding my bike until I
dealt with the handlebars. The most comfortable way
to hang onto the OEM bars left me an inch or so away
from the backrest. Hitting the throttle caused me to slide
back and forth in the seat.

I like the seat and at just under $500 it seams more reasonable than other Corbins lately. How does it effect your feet on the ground compared to stock?

Also I can't get over on how well the OEM traditional cruiser bags look on the space age look of the Valk, I just picked up my 14 red this week, the bags and other stuff are on order.

I am just the opposite.  I don't like the bags at all, so I am saving up all my pennies to get myself some corbin bags next year.  They look awesome.

It, also, looks like I will be extending the cables and wiring like hubcapsc did.  With the Corbin seat sitting you back further than the OE seat, I might as well have the bars ready for when I get the seat.  I was already looking at a set of nice bars to put on.

Ok, now that I've ridden some miles this weekend I can now comment on the questions.

Sitting position is about the same as stock, and yes with my height and arm length I would like to be pushed forward about 2 inches. But I find that I can adjust as it was about the same on my 2002 standard.

As to the change in my feet on the ground because of the difference in shape I was able to put my feet flat on the ground when sitting now my heals are about 1/2 inch off the ground, not that big of difference.

Over all I like the seat a lot better than stock. I rode for 4 hours both Saturday and Sunday and didn't really have any issues with my butt getting sore and my back was much better than when I rode with the stock seat.

if it were me i would chop up the factory wiring and service lines, fab up some some risers, and throw on some ape hangers. it will do wonders for the resale on the bike, not to mention all the looks/comments you will get while riding it. oh, and dont forget to install a custom windscreen while your at it.

I just finished a 3 day, 1200 mile ride.  The stock seat was good for about 50 miles each day.  I have ordered a Corbin, but it wasn't here for the trip.  I did order the nose job which allows your feet to find the ground easier.  The stock leather bags worked very well.  The ride was mostly in heavy rains and the bags were completely dry inside.  I can say the small Honda windshield sucked on any speeds over 70.  I'm ordering the tall one today.  All things considered the bike did a great job, even in the twisties.  Ground down the foot peg feelers on both sides.  Surprisingly she leans over pretty good.

The tall shield sucks at any speed over 0. 

There's some Memphis Shades windshields that are much better, and almost
as big, but I've never used them with the stock handlebars...

I don't mind looking thru the glass, on other bikes with minor buffeting I've found that it becomes unnoticeable sooner or later, you get used to it. The shield is much better than other Cruisers and Sport Tourers I've owned in the past. I also have the OEM lowers, they help a little, prolly not worth $150. The radiator shrouds help a lot on the new Valks.

The ability to tilt the Memphis Shades handlebar mounted shields really cuts down on
the buffeting.

In the end, I'm using a cut-down OEM shield and two sets of Memphis Shades mounts,
sturdy and low buffeting...

No idea if something like this would work with OEM bars...

Got my Corbin seat installed today.  Wow!

Not to mention the comfort but the bike is more maneuverable.  Must be a lower seating position.  Feels like a different bike in a very good way.  Very Happy.

I was going to order the Corbin Fleetliner bags, but after seeing them, they are too small.  Does anyone have a recommendation for larger bags that would work on the new Valk.

Looks can be deceiving. No they won't hold a full face helmet. And the openings are small, but I stuff a lot into them. They are engineered nicely, very high quality, and they look great. Integrated into the bike, nice and tight. Best hard bags I have ever owned.

Please explain if the look or feel or sitting position is different from the regular Corbin seat. I am thinking about ordering a seat with a nose job but trying to get a idea of the seating position and height.

As I commented in a different post on Corbin a while back. I sent the seat I bought back to them as it was no better than the factory plus had an issue with removing the side panels. Could not remove them without breaking off the pins on the top of the panels to be able to remove them with seat on. Seat to hard, also caused me to slide forward and felt like I was sitting on a round pipe and not a flat surface. They agreed to modify the seat to my spec which they did and returned it to me after almost 4 months. I just about gave up on them. They returned it last week. After a frustrating 1/2 hr struggle I go the seat mounted. To correct the panel problem they appeared to shorten the tab mounts on the fender resulting in the seat mounting higher on the fender therefore creating a greater gap for the panels resulting in the struggle to bend the seat shell flatter and reducing the arch in the saddle. The result in the increased padding and higher horn makes the seat feel much different. I have even pressure on my bottom cheeks making the seat feel flat. No pressure on my tail bone. I sit pressed on the back part of the seat and do not appear to settle forward after riding for a period of time. Seat feels softer as well. Also seems a little lower than the factory seat. One thing different than my Russell seat is they do not recess the area were your upper leg presses down when your feet are on the ground. The Russell seat was cut back in this area to releave that issue. As far as the long ride burn. That remains to be seen. I have yet to go on a long ride.

Don't copy the links, let Photobucket software do it. Go to the file that has all three pictures in it, then go to the bottom left of a picture and you'll see 3 lines. With the cursor on it, another box pops up giving you six choices....choose "share links."  Another box pops up and go to the bottom where it says IMG. Click that and after it says "copied" you're good to go. Just put your cursor on your VRCC post where you want the picture to show and right click "paste."  It will show the link at first, but when you go to "Preview" it shows the picture. And when you post, it only shows the picture. Like this!

Just finished an 1100 mile trip on the Corbin Gunfighter.  I was truly amazed.  All day riding was a pleasure.  If i ever felt the slightest uncomfortable, all it took was to slightly move my rear around and I was good for another bunch of miles.  There is absolutely no comparison to the stock seat.  Great product.

that's great to hear maddoggie - how long were you able to ride on the stock seat before feeling discomfort/fatigue on a single ride?

My rear end hurt only after about 30 minutes of riding.  I love the Corbin seat as I too have no discomfort with the new seat.  Pricy but worth it to me.

I'm looking at getting the corbin seat next year, my problem isn't so much the comfort of the ride (I've done a couple 100 mile trups without a problem as long as i dont get off) it's after I get off. As soon as I sit down on a chair it feels like my tailbone is bruised. My question is how is the  dual touring for the passenger? My wife hates the stock seat.
