Finished building my Spoonland-like adapter.

Pulled the fairing loose, retorqued the steering bearings and checked the front wheel bearings--trying to get rid of a slow-speed wobble. Switched the headlights to Silverstar Ultras. Cleaned a lot of crap from inside there. I don't think it has been touched since 1999. While the windscreen was off I cleaned it really well. Cleaned out a bunch of crappy wiring that the prior owner did. Installed some pull-strings for future planned projects.

Put it back together. No left-over parts!!!! Whoop!!!

The wobble is mostly gone. Now I feel a slight pulsing from the rear brake. I guess I have a project for next weekend.

Look to the rear of the bike to find the source of many low speed wobbles.  Shocks, shock bushings, out of round tires, delaminating tires (my personal favorite) may all manifest through the steering as a wobble.

What did you have to do before you powder coated the pumpkin?

Drain the oil and clean it up; it looks really good in my opinion.

I wrecked it.

It went at least 120 ft without me on it.

Probably a total loss.

Physically fine. Helmet, armored jacket, gloves, boots--All The Gear, All The Time. My knee is bruised pretty good. Sore rib area. An owie on my elbow.

The IS fairing and right pod are toast.

The trans makes a funny clicking noise and won't engage.

Bent engine guard, bent OEM bag guard, scuffed R bag. Tank dented from the fairing.

Definitely repairable if my wife lets me. Ins may say it is totalled.

Commuting to work on 75 N into Sherman. Came around the sweeping turn by the Welcome To Sherman sign. The pickup in front of me slowed because a truck had pushed a car off the road a minute or so before. THEN he used his brakes, after the distance closed between us closed a bit. I did not feel I could stop in time so I moved to the right lane.......except the lane marker was slick and down I went.

Now my wife has banned me from riding for a while. Understandable, but I still don't like it.

You've done a beautiful job with that Valkyrie, I covered my rear with saddlebags, haven't come up with a color scheme though. Enjoy the ride.

Washed it Saturday and got the registration renewed Tuesday.  Also received a different grab bar Wednesday, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

Finally, a pic of the Valance install. I picked these up from a member who had damaged the counter bore seat for the allen head screws. He said they caused the intake runners  to leak, came up with an alternative fastening method.

Installed Hitch-doc trailer hitch. Hardware was for an IS  and I had to alter a couple of bolts. they were too long and rubbed the tire. Other than that everything went OK. Now I have to hook up a Hopkins powered 5 to 4 connector and I will be through...... except I don't have a trailer yet. I've had my eye  on the Slip Stream pop-up camper trailer. To me, that's the way to travel...

Took apart the turn signal housing and cleaned it up real good.  The right signal was slow to operate at first and then quit working all together along with the left one.  After some serious cleaning I got the left one working, but the right only works when disassembled and pressing it together with my fingers.  Guess I'm taking it back apart and trying again.  Sad

I recently developed a backfire when suddenly dropping the throttle to slow when at high rpms.  Small ones in mid speed, but at freeway speeds it sounded off like a rifle shot, and I had a few people seem to be ducking for cover.  I also then noted a bit more subtle popping and burbling from my exhaust (stock with pigs cut), and a small nearly imperceptible power loss (maybe gas mileage loss too).

I knew it was a vacuum leak, but where?  Big BF desmogged my bikes a few years back, and I wish I had paid more attention.  I emailed 3Wlonerider (Rick) up in Shippenburg PA, and he came back with great info and help (and this is a shout out to him).

I looked at the vacuum nipples behind the intakes and found the easiest one, right rear across from #6,  with the vacuum cap just blown in half.  You wouldn't think there was enough pressure to do that, but then it probably started as a leak, but a big backfire blew the end of the cap off entirely.

I know I have some of these (or something like them), somewhere.  Like most guys, I have shelves of cookie, coffee, nut cans full of all kinds of odd and ends, mostly separated into categories, small engine/carb parts, electrical, and a big bag of Honda OE parts, fasteners, orings, nuts, bolts, spacers, widgets, and a bunch of stuff which came with my bikes and don't even know what they are for.  But I couldn't find one.  But I did find a very heavy duty thick rubber cap with small hole that fit the nipple perfectly, and clamped it on with a tiny hose clamp.  And just like that the bike is running perfectly again.  Smoke tested it and no draw of any kind.

I'll get some of the right ones.  The remaining ones all look good and are held on with little zip ties (but the ones up top behind the pods are hard to get a good look at.

This is a little disappointing; the idea of the desmog is to get rid off a bunch of stuff that invariably dries out and cracks and holes and degrades performance.  And then the replacement stuff does the same thing.... though I suppose it is easier to get to.

Thanks for your help Rick, I owe you one.  cooldude

I had a screw in my CT and it went flat at work yesterday.  I aired it up enough to get to Shell and air it up quickly to 45 psi and rode her home.  I have 2 replacement tires at home, so I pulled the old flat one off and had the new one put on.
While I was in "there", I also replaced the drive shaft and pinion cup (Thanks to Hot Glue for the use of the impact to ZIP the old one off and the new one on).  I bought a new seal, but reused the spring, washer, and snap ring.
I also found one of Gary's dampeners had a chunk missing from it.  I just so happen to have a spare set I bought from someone and replaced them too.
All assembled and did a test ride.  Smooth as glass.

Rode her back to work this morning and enjoyed every minute of it.

Installed a set of great looking Cobra risers I bought from a good man in Tennessee. The new risers add classy chrome to an already great looking Tourer.
After sitting for over a year and a couple months, cranked up the I/S and rode it to my part time job at the church, it ran really good considering it had only been ridden about 20 miles since August 18, 2014. I filled it up last year, changed oil and it collected dust. I plan to ride it Saturday to Lexington for BBQ at Snows, hope to do about 500 round trip miles.

Installed my Trunk lid light permanent by pulling the wire thru the void in the lid.

Used a coiled piece of coat hangar, dental floss and a good stack of magnets. The coat hangar wire was bent to resemble an s or paper clip that was flat and would fit thru the 3/8 hole.

Drilled two holes using 3/8 drill. one just above the latch and one just left of the hinge in the casting dimple. Reamed the holes with 5 /16 bit to clean them out.

Started at the top hole and pulled the floss along the inside of the lid using a magnet to steer it from the inside.  Took several tries due to my XM antennae and Speaker magnets causing interference.

New LED light works well and really beats having wires hanging inside my trunk. Pulled and left a spare piece of floss in the lid in case I want to pull another wire. My hinge area is a dirty mess but it works.

Decided to use the Mighty Vac to bleed the brake fluid on IS and found this on the rear caliper

The trailer hitch mount has been scraping the aluminum, right down to the screw threads

Don't recall any left over spacers the last time I had her apart so I'm not sure how this happened.

I fixed the trailer hitch but not sure where I'll get a caliper in time for the THCR.
