Maybe hubcapsc can help here, since he lengthened his lines?

Does anyone know the length of the stock clutch line from tip to tip?  I found a company that can make SS lines pretty cheap with the banjo fittings, but they need to know the length, including the banjo fittings.  I am just too lazy to take off all the stuff and measure it myself.

The brake side is easy since I am just going from the top ABS line to the master.  I will change the lower ones down the road sometime.

I think I am going to install a set of 5.5" risers this winter, but I want to buy stuff as I go along this summer.  I was just going to get some black handlebars, but I cannot find anything I like that is any better than the stock ones.
The 5.5" risers will give me about 3" of lift and bring the bars back about 2.5" from stock.  I will buy the risers and see how they are with the bars.  That is the cheaper and best way to go I guess.  The fun part will be splicing all the wires and lengthening them.  Doesn't look like too bad of a job, though.  It will just take time.

I finally got around to measuring the clutch line.  It is 51.5" from tip to tip.  The banjo connector at the slave cylinder is straight.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  You just have to take off the two front covers to get at it.

Sorry... I didn't see your post... the way I read the forum, all posts are mixed together,
I don't read the general board, and then the tech board and then the Texas board and
then...

I have OEM clutch, brake (not ABS) lines and throttle
cables, and will measure them if anyone needs...

Hi hubcapsc,

I would be interested in the length of the throttle cables.  I guess they just measure the housing and the free length at the end with the adjuster all the way in.   I picture would be great.  I am ordering extended cables to put my bars on that I made.

A confirmation of my measurement of the clutch line would be great.  cooldude

Thanks.

Mike,

Can you tell me where you got your throttle cables from?  I have been looking but they seem to only make them for HDs.  Did you use ones off a VTX or something?

I need some that are extended by 9".

Thanks,

Brian

Throttle cables from Motion Pro.

Clutch and Brake lines from Spiegler.

They're all custom orders, not off-the-shelf.

Mike,

I looked at Motion Pro.  Do you know what the 'free play' was?  The amount of wire at the end when the adjuster is all the way in.  The picture you have up shows about 4.25", but I am not sure if the adjuster is all the way in.

Also, what size of split braid did you use? 1/2" or 3/4".

Thanks so much for your help.

Brian

P.S.  I thought I could use the bike as is for this year, but the bars are killing my right elbow for some reason.

I didn't pay any attention to the adjuster. When I finally decided to go for it, I fiddled around
out in the "shop" for a while and decided on nine inches for everything.

I don't remember, and neither does my picture  Wink

Check locally for four-wheel-drive/off-road oriented shops. I went to Clemson four-wheel-drive Center
and they had all kinds of sizes of that stuff. You can choose using direct observation that way. Don't
settle for that vacuum-cleaner hose stuff they sell at Lowes...

BECAUSE THE OEM BARS SUCK!  cooldude

Motion Pro are some slow a$$ people to get back to you.  Sent them an email on Monday and called yesterday morning and left a message, but they have not got back to me.  So, I called this morning and still no one answers the phone.  I know it was a holiday in the US on Monday, but it is now Wednesday.  Talk about slow service.  I called Barnett and they took my call right away.  Now they just have to see if they have the specs on the OE cables for the new valk.

Finally got a hold of Motion Pro and they are telling me that I have to send my cables in to them before they can make me a set 9" longer because they don't have a sample to go by.  tickedoff  I told them Mike got a set done last January but they said that it doesn't help them.  They don't keep the records on computer.  What kind of place doesn't keep records on computers these days.  The invoices would have to be printed on a computer, so why would they not save them?  Why would you not keep the info in a database?  uglystupid2

Does anyone know if the top part that screws into the throttle handle is different from the regular goldwings or VTX?  Also, does anyone know what the free length is?  That is the amount of cable sticking out when the adjuster is all the way in.

If it ends up being helpful, I could send you a set of OEMs to send on to Motion Pro...

I told Motion Pro that other people would probably be wanting this, and they
told me then that the other people would have to send samples too...

How much do you want for them Mike?

Motion Pro deosn't make any sense.  If you have a set of new cables, why wouldn't you put the information you need for them in a database while you can.  Some companies baffle me on how they work an dstay in business.

I didn't want to tear my bike apart while I was waiting for the custom lines and cables, so I
bought an extra set... if you want to own an extra set, you should just order them
from a dealer.

If you send a set to Motion Pro, they'll send them back... then you could send them back
to me... I wouldn't charge you anything for that... just postage...

That sounds good to me. I don't really need an extra set.
I tried to pm you but it says that you don't accept them. You can email me at Ozzy_100@bell.net for my address.
I will send them back to you as soon as I get them back from Motion Pro.
Do you do PayPal?
Thanks Mike
