Wink Bought a bottle of Meguiar's  scratch X 2.0 remover and used it on my black tank. Works very well by hand. Found it at Wally world.

Thanks for the tip Dan.

No scratches on mine yet, but that'll change in a hurry I'm sure. Sad

Sad but true! My brand new black beauty had a couple clearcoat scratches on the tank from day 1.

I'll have to give the Meguiars a shot, +1 for the tip  cooldude

The first time I had my gf on the back, she used the front of the hardbags as a heel rest, when I got home I could see the tread pattern of her sneakers worn into the paint. Meguiars Scratch X and a few hours of cursing and elbow grease got rid of any signs of it.

Thanks for the tip Dan, I'm going out today and buy a bottle. I did not have ONE scratch on my 99 Interstate until I let this guy and others talk me into this new, easy way of cleaning. I bought a can of Bike Spirits and followed instructions to the letter and bought new micro fibers. After a few times I noticed  fine scratches on my tank so I am back to doing it the old fashion way....with water!

:oI Called Meguiar today and they told me there is no wax in this polish. So need to finish with a good wax after scratches are removed
