I have a intermittent stock horn problem.  Horn blows with key on and bike not started. When I ride it sometimes wont work.  I  can not figure if it's the switch, a ground, or the horn itself.  Where does the horn ground wire go?

Motorcycle horns corrode internally, the vibrating points internally are usually the issue.
You can use the adjustment screw sometimes to extend the life. Adjust until it blows consistantly and lock it down. Then use the horn occasionally to delay a re-occurrence.

I try to use my horn every so often, as that seems to delay the corrosion or help clean it.

Ground is usually through the horn body. Only the + lead to the horn.

Could be any of the above IMO. THIS COULD BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET RID OF THAT OEM "MEEPER". coolsmiley

My '98 Tourer OEM horn was grounded with a wire.  Replaced it very quickly with a WOLO.

Have a Wolo air horn on my I/S. You could NOT get me to go across the street with a stock horn!  uglystupid2 I fart louder than the stock horn "noise".  Roll Eyes Replace that meep meep before a soccer mom in her cage texts you where you don't wanna be. Gotta wake the nerds in the cages and a stock horn WILL NOT DO THAT.  Undecided RIDE SAFE.

Pete, you are smart.  Sure enough,  I kissed the adjustment tone and it works all the time now.  I have been dicking around for 6 months with the switch.

Thanks for the compliment. (not deserved)

I have just been there and done that, starting about 40 years ago when my first horn failed and I could not easily afford to replace it, so I had to fix it.

Good luck and use the horn even if it is just to make sure it works.
