The Cobra comes with 35W and a lot of people are trying to run 50W.

50W is a little strong for this setup.    Kind of hard on wiring.

Here is a nice replacement bulb that lights up the highway real nice and bright.

The spotlights are GE H7616 they only use 36.5 watts and put out 70000 CP. Lights up the road very well.

That is what I run in MGM for several moons.

I want to give credit to Don Lanham for the information.    He is Lady Draco's husband.    Thanks Don, appreciate the info.

When I sold MGM, I sent these lamps down the road with it.   Coming home the other night from a group ride, my son, who bought MGM, blew the main headlight fuse somehow.      He said these lamps got him home in good shape and he also spotted 4 deer on the side of the road.     SO, do not wire your driving lights into the head lamp circuit.    Better to have just these lights than NONE.   I used the switch on the Cobra bar to off and on these lamps.   99.9% of the time I had them on.    Not sure how the son runs them, but I;m assuming he is using them at all times also.

I don't know what watts H-3 halogens are, but I think they are 25W and light up the road (both together) as much as the headlight effectively doubling the lighting to the road and look much cooler than the original cobra spots, matches the shape of the headlight.  These are made by cobra too and have the same foot for mounting to the bars.

Pilot makes a wiring kit that you can install that has a relay and a nice switch. The cost is about 30.00 I have been using this set up to for over 15 years. It will put the driving lights on there own circuit and you can run any kind of bulb you want. I run GE aircraft landing lights it really lights up the world.

Been looking to upgrade my 1999 Tourer 35W 4.5" Cobra lights and the output of the 4509 Landing bulbs caught my eye.... Mine are on always for safety, 10,000 miles or so per year, so longevity counts.  The 100W Landing Lights I found have only a 25-hour rating.  What's been your experience with use hours? Under or over stated? Thanks, Joe

Read the very 1st post on this topic.

It tells you of a very good bulb replacement.

I recently replaced the bulbs in my cobras with LED's that are sold for tractors.  They only draw 18 watts and rally light up the road.  Check Ebay.

Attic Rat, I run a GE aircraft landing light also, but it's on the cowling of a Beechcraft.  You're correct, it does light up the world...Jim Grin

I have the same lamps as Chris has pictured above.  They work very well and the cases match the headlight very well.  The switch on the right Cobra Bar is no longer used.  My lamps are powered by an added 20A circuit from an Eastern Beaver fuse block and switched on from a front brake resviour switch block using a relay within the headlight housing.  Like the headlight, they turn off, when starting the Valk.

I replaced the 4-1/2" sealed beam lamps after trying to replace one on a road trip.  Could not do it.  However, the halogen bulb in these lamps would be a PITA to replace on the road.  The screw to open the housing is on the bottom and the entire lamp has to be removed from the bar to get in there...

Bob, you don't have to remove the lamp, just aim it as high as it will go and you can change the bulb
