Hi All
In the process or changing out the slow jets and doing other maintenance on my '03 Standard.   I have the air box off the bike and noticed that the outside of the box where the hoses are has dried up residue right next to the box.  I want to know if this is some sort of heat resistant latex that is used to seal that joint so no air move through that area.  If so what do I get to seal the hoses?

Second issue, the throttle cables.   Is there an easy way to determine which one goes where?  I did not mark them so not sure which goes where.  Help me on this one please.

Thanks as always for the help I have gotten on this board before.

If you are talking about the glue where the six large air tubes connect to the air box, many just ignore that the seal is broken and no ill effects are observed.  Years ago I re-sealed mine with some kind of flexible adhesive, but I don't remember exactly what I used.

The seals around the airbox will be fine as is, mime were kinda orange looking last week when I had my carbs off. As for the throttle cables, twist the throttle and watch for the one that goes up into the plastic jacket or whatever you call the protecting jacket around it. That one will be the one to install on the rear mount. The cable will then go to the backside and connect.  The other goes on the front mount (obviously) and goes around the front side. I had a time with the front one last week. Ended up loosening the intakes and lifting thecarbs up a bit to get enough slack.

Wish you lived a bit closer, I run over and help out. I'm in the Orlando area so it's a bit of a jaunt.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.  Might look for some heat resistant latex at the Auto Zone, if I find it  and its not too costly I will go that way.   The throttle cables, that looks to be a bit of a challenge.  At least now I will get the correct wire i the right place.   Will connect those before I get the carb bank tied in.
I wish you  lived a little closer too.  We are not all that far apart, I live in Safety Harbor right at the top West side of Tampa Bay.  Now that I;m retired I would like to ride some with the mid Fl group.

Thanks again everyone, this is the best group.
